Megyn Kelly: Santa Claus and Jesus are White

Just an odd thing to say from a news network personality.
Yeah, she said some pretty dumb things.
But the point she was trying to make is correct. It really shouldn't matter what color Jesus was, and we shouldn't try to change facts.
Now, nobody knows what color Jesus was, I believe God in his wisdom did not describe his appearance so no one group could claim Jesus as their own.
Jesus most likely looked like an average Middle-Eastern man. He was probably fairly dark skinned, neither white nor black with dark hair and eyes, but we just don't know. And it doesn't matter what color he was, he died for all men no matter what color they are.

Her guest was saying that a white Santa Claus is "alienating" to those who aren't white.
She was just asking why? Santa Claus, who admittedly doesn't exist, has traditionally been imaged as European - white. This tradition came from Europe - ergo, he's depicted as white. I really don't care, because he's not real.
Granted, she's wrong about Jesus being white, but what' wrong with her wanting to know what's wrong with Santa being white and why is being white alienating?
You can answer my question or not. I'll read it, but this will be my only post in this thread.

I was referencing the comment about Jesus was white Scarlett. I could care less what she said about Santa Claus.:smilewinkgrin:
Megyn's a smart lady. And she's usually done her homework. Might jus be attributable to a prejudice that makes folks want to make God look like them.
Could you imagine if there were actual pictures? Aye-yi-yi!
If you felt that way, you really didn't have to reply the first time. I don't need to be kept up to date of when or when you won't respond again.:flower:

It's not odd to me and you're not part of the latter, but let's face it, there was nothing wrong with Megyn's statement and I happen to like what she said.
'They're both white'; 'They're both black'; 'One is white, one is black' &c &c &c. To me it doesn't matter and it isn't cause for concern.

Then keep it moving then if it doesn't matter to you.
Both figures may be depicted as White the majority of the time because that's how the majority pictured them. That doesn't mean that the majority was right about the skin color of either. Jesus was from the Middle East and Saint Nicholas was from Turkey.
But the Santa Claus of which Megyn is referring wasn't born anywhere because he's not real so it makes no real sense to argue that he was black , white or blue.
And to then try and reinforce her point with making Jesus white too...I still just find it odd.

You're an misguided, and so are the people making a big deal out Megyn's comments. She didn't say they have to be white, just that typically, that is how they are portrayed. And Jesus is part of the Semetic culture, and genetically, would be white, whether you like it or not.

She said Santa is white to everyone who can actually hear. You're obviously seeing another tape or as usual stretching the truth to try and make your point right.
Pure nonesense. Jesus was a Jew and that's all you know. As it was 2000 plus years ago, all you have is wha you THINK He looks like just like everybody else. And whether you like it or not, you thinkingHe had to look white just because that's what you see of Palestinian Jews today means nothing.
And here we go, letting Zaac get us all worked up about a relative non-issue. Notice how he specifically brought up a race-based issue, obviously so he could have more fuel for his rants about how racist a lot of people on this board are.

This isn't very scientific but I just Googled Santa Claus and clicked on the Images tag. I didn't count them (est. 150) but the first page of images both photos and drawings showed a very white Santa Claus. A fast click through subsequent pages showed more very white Santas. Conclusion? In spite of our drive for diversity a very white Santa is the more common image - part of our collective visual memory.
Then I did the same for Jesus. Would you be surprised if I told you that the results were nearly identical?
I'm not the sharpest stick in the pile but I do know Santa Claus does not exist. How do I know this? One year when I was little my Papa went outside on Christmas Eve and blasted his shotgun into the air. He walked back in, hung up the shotgun and said, "He ain't coming." Ain't seen him since. I blame Thomas Nast for searing the image of a fat, white Santa into our brain. We have an expectation of what we should see. Nast's image is by far the strongest.
What about a white Jesus? It has been said numerous times in this thread that we do not know what Jesus looked like. That's a given. But what does He look like to you in the theater of your own mind? We see a white man in any variety of poses from holding a child on His lap to His bloodied body being lowered from the Cross.
I blame Warner Sallman. That doesn't make Jesus a white man but it is the image many quickly go to.

As I said earlier, I think it's natural for folks to want these figures to look like themselves. People like things to which they can relate or at least feel as though they can.
Which again is why I found it odd that Megyn would say that both Santa Claus(who ain't even real) and Jesus are White.
Go to India, China, Nigeria, Kenya, etc. Their depictions of Jesus and Santa Claus are a reflection of te people in those countries.
But that's part of limited history. And that's what has been done in the United States for decades. The history of America is told from the perspective of the majority who happen to be White. The history, like the depiction of Santa Claus, may be true from that perspective, but that history isn't necessarily the same truth that Hispanics, Blacks, Asians or people from other cultures grew up with.

Zaac isn't interested in truth. Zaac is interested in stirring the pot. Once again, Megyn didn't say "Jesus and Santa are white." She did say, as just about everyone of us can confirm from our own experiences, that they are typically depicted as being white in our culture.
There's a big difference in those two statements. Not that Zaac cares. Zaac only wants to stir up strife among the brethren, even if it means he has to get most of the strife directed at him. So, Zaac, not playing your game anymore. Not calling you out, calling you names, calling you by what you are. Just going to carefully, thoroughly and often calmly restate your misstatements so we can all see what we're actually dealing with. Most of us prefer truth. Thanks, Merry Christmas, and God bless.

And once again some people just don't know what they're talking about. Any dummy with a computer can play the segment and clearly hear her say that Santa Claus and Jesus are White. She has since backed off what she said about Jesus.
But we all know that certain people are just angry that the President of the United States is Barack Obama :laugh: and that their every opposition to anything these days is a direct reflection of their anger against losing an election...twice.:laugh:
