Yesterday, a lady said "Happy Memorial Day"
that doesn't seem appropriate for Memorial Day
as it should be a somber day - as we remember our War dead.
Any suggestions for a better mention of Memorial Day?

When war veterans get together we laugh a lot. We tend to remember the humour around our sad situations. When we came home from the front, see seldom even talked about war; actually avoided such conversations.

In Canada, our "memorial day" is actually Victoria Day; we celebrate our Queen. I guess our memorial day is actually Nov 11th, Remembrance Day. Many towns have a military parade and have a service at the local cenotaphs, which include names from WW 1, WW2 and Korea.

    Cheers,

    Jim
