Michael Card

He's close friends with my very favorite Christian musician, the Franciscan monk John Michael Talbot. I have a CD where they sing each other's songs~~sorry but IMHO Talbot does Cards' songs better...

I remember reading an article Card wrote about retreats that always stuck with me. He said he recommended Catholic retreats over Evangelical ones because the Catholic retreats focus more on silence, meditation, prayer and Scripture whereas the Evangelical one focused on lots of fun and activity with a Scripture theme. Read that article maybe 15 years ago, still would like to go to a Catholic retreat sometime.

I went to a Michael Card concert several years ago. He is a very fine singer/musician/songwriter. Some of my favorites of his (and this will likely date me) are "Immanuel," "The Final Word," and "So Many Books, So Little Time."

As I said, he sings very well and plays very well. Unfortunately - and this is my opinion only - when he talks, he gets boring very quickly. And he talks between every song.

 

M. Card is one of my favorites. I went to a concert of his a few years ago at a medium-sized Presby church in Ohio. It was one of the best Christian concerts I've been to, and probably the least-pretentious one too (can be a problem among some Christian entertainers but not for Card).

 

What everybody said. I don't mind him....he tends to be in the quiet league, thoughtful. Rich Mullins would make Card's music seem to be to the "quieter, more thought provoking.." I have had some of Card's music over the years.

 

Loved "Jubilee"! Went to his concert in, I think, 95? Very good. He is very unpretentious, very simple, very downhome. Or was then.
