I haven't heard him in years.

I agree with many of his opinions. But he is more a loudmouth than anything else. He's the alt-right version of AOC.

"On October 14, 2014, Savage criticized veteran sufferers of posttraumatic stress disorder, accusing them of "weakness". According to Savage, "Everyone has depression in their life. But if the whole nation is told, 'boo-hoo-hoo, come and get a medication, come and get treatment, talk about mental illness.' You know what you wind up with? You wind up with Obama in the White House and liars in every phase of the government. That's what you wind up with. It's a weak, sick, nation. A weak, sick, broken nation. And you need men like me to save the country." Wikipedia

The quote from Savage was prefaced with an opinionated statement to guide the weak little minds of all of all who read it to come to the conclusion that Savavage feels that all PTSD vets are crybabies. We don't know if he feels that about all PTSD sufferers.

When he says that we need men like him to save the country, I have a problem with that. I think we have too many men like him already - all talk and no action.

To be fair, Savage had to be an extremist loudmouth.

I am reminded of an interview with Vincent Furnier (Alice Cooper). He said they decided to go with shock rock because they had concluded they were not good enough musicians at the time to be successful.

The conservative market was saturated with serious commentators, and Savage could not make a name for himself against the likes of Rush Limbaugh except he be provocative and extreme.

I can not fault somebody for speaking their opinions. But sometimes I suspect Savage makes an extra effort to make his opinions over the top.

Since I did enjoy the serious talk show hosts - I normally kept my radio tuned into the talk radio station.
I would catch Savage for about 15 minutes on the way home from work at 10 pm.
The longest 15 minutes of the night!

found this link about Savage:

Michael Alan Weiner (born March 31, 1942), is known by his professional name Michael Savage, turned 80 this past March.
Currently
his show is on a pod cast.

They call it chutzpah.
Yes, and I suspect this is necessary for anyone in his field to be successful.

He's like Howard Stern. Regardless of the validity of his position (often his view is spot on) his career is based on audacity and presenting a view in an offensive manner.

I've listened to him a long time ago for quite a long time. He is not someone you want to hear for the "fair and balanced". He's someone we like listening to because he bullies the opposing team.

"...Chutzpah is a Hebrew word that has been adopted into Yiddish and then English. Chutzpah has been defined as audacity, insolence, impudence, gall, brazen nerve, effrontery, incredible guts, presumption and arrogance. Yet something essential about chutzpah is missing from all these words. Chutzpah can be destructive and ugly or vital and ..."
