Michael Vick suspension

If he is convicted I hope that the authorities throw the book at him. Dog fighting is a despicable activity.

 

I really can't decide. For one thing, he's not been convicted of anything yet, so I don't know what's reasonable at this point. I agree with Ken. While I can think of worse crimes, this is still pretty pathetic. If he's convicted, I think 8-10 games is a minimum. I don't know how long his rap sheet is to see if he qualifies for Pac Man Jones penalties. Maybe he does.

I think Goodell is going to come down hard and suspend him for a year.

 

If convicted I think he will get a year - I dont know that he will be convicted however. There are plenty of extraneous factors to consider (that will be considered in a court of law - far outside the court of opinion) As I tap the brakes a bit, lets not forget the Duke Lacrosse case and other cases that looked at first like a slam dunk for the prosecution.

We will see - it will take at least a year to come to trial

 

One thing that hurts Vick is the weakness of the NFL players union - they get rolled more than the French

Yeah...hope he gets AT LEAST a year suspension. The commish has been really going after guys and making the point of what is unacceptable behavior. This is a superstar (even though he doesn't play like one) that has participated in a henious crime. It's sad.....It's disgusting......It's against the law!!!!

 

The NFLPA deserves getting rolled.

If Vick gets convicted, he's looking at jail time. A suspension is probably going to happen by default :laugh:

 

I heard on the radio that these putrid pieces of garbage would get the losing dogs wet and electrocute them. Or they would grab them by the back legs and slam them against the ground until they died.

"Fights would end when one dog died or with the surrender of the losing dog, which was sometimes put to death by drowning, strangulation, hanging, gun shot, electrocution or some other method, according to the documents."

Michael Vick and his "friends" are filthy, vile, despicable human beings. Vick should be banned from the NFL for life, and then prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Chris Henry 8 games
Tank Johnson 8 games I believe plus no team

I am a WVU fan and the Titans should cut Jones, Falcons should let Michael Vick go as well.

In listening to ESPN Radio, Arthur Blank is an upstanding NFL owner. If Vick is found guilty, then he should be let go by the Falcons and the NFL suspend him indefinitely.

 

If convicted he deserves a lifetime ban. He's been a miserable disappointment, in sports and character.

 

My text for Sunday's sermon was Matthew 2:16-23 - Herod's murder of the children in Bethlehem.

As bad as the "dog" scandal is - and as eloquent as the esteemed senator from West Virginina (Robert Byrd) was in his mistaken theology (that the worst part of hell is reserved for dog fighters and promoters) - I wonder why no one out there is standing up for the millions of unborn children that have been murdered inutero in the USA for the past thirty years or so?

Excellent point. Keeping it in the sports realm, I wonder where the equal publicity is for all of the athletes that are having children out of wed lock and then not taking care of them. Seems pretty cruel and irresponsible to birth a child and leave him and mommy to fight it out on there own. If Mr. Vick is guilty he's one sick puppy (pun intended) however, we have a mixed up sense of priorities when dogs get more attention than humans.

 

Though slightly off topic.....

Truthfully, this was the first thought that hit my mind when the allegations first surfaced. However, this is 21st century America. Byrd, and other politicians, as well as many Americans, have a wonderful sense of the sanctity of life - for animals, the planet, criminals on death row, old historic buildings - but not innocent human life.

 

Abortion is probably the most divisive political issue in these United States for the past 35 years. There has been more attention focused on this one issue than any other cultural issue during that time frame. To complain about attention - finally - being focused on the barbarism of dog fighting is just plain wrongheaded.

 

The eloquent & esteemed senator from West Virginia also has forgotten his association with the Ku Klux Klan, and I imagine whatever happens to dog abusers pales in comparison to what will happen to some of his lynching & church-bombing co-horts.
