    Windows ME is a Virus, any decent scan program should flag and quarantine it for you.

    I'm not so sure I would place apple up as the replacement for microsoft, unless of course you want to go from an expensive non-integrated proprietary solution to an expensive integrated proprietary one. Ive never been a fan, but then, I am technical, and would choose customizabilty over ease of use any day. It certainly is a step up from winblows.

    Open source is the way to go. get Linux or Solaris, you will want to patch it for sure, but the security is inherently better. Solaris 10 has least permission technology, so even root is not all-powerful all the time.
