"Much Needed Wakeup Call To Rouse "A Sleeping America"
    Agape Press

"A group that works to combat the homosexual agenda and other anti-Christian influences in culture is urging concerned citizens to contact Southern Baptist leaders and voice support for a proposed resolution regarding homosexuality in U.S. public schools. A statement from Mission America characterizes the proposed resolution is a much needed wakeup call that has the potential to rouse "a sleeping America to the depth of homosexual activism in our schools." Mission America points out the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) will not vote on the resolution unless its Resolutions Committee brings it to the floor, and when a similar resolution was considered by that committee last year, it died there. The Christian activist group's statement observes that third-graders are being taught the "benefits" of cross-dressing, and middle school students, that objecting to homosexuality is hate. Meanwhile, high school students are "reading as 'literature' some of the most pornographic material available, all touting the benefits and rights of homosexuality." Mission America is asking parents, grandparents, supporters, activists and others to write letters to the members of the SBC Resolutions Committee, urging them to send the Shortt-Baucham resolution to the floor for approval at the SBC's annual meeting. The Committee members' contact information is available to concerned pro-family individuals from info@missionamerica.com."

I find that I am VERY skeptical of this article. I do not believe for a minute that third-grade children are being taught "the benefits of cross-dressing". I also do not believe that high school students are assigned to read pornography. I would need to see compelling evidence, and not hearsay about this.

Articles should be properly referenced. Is there a weblink to this article?

It is my belief that we will see a somewhat different resolution presented this June in Nashville----the resolution presented last year in Indianapolis was somewhat "shady" and a little on the "militant" side---and gave conventioneers the impression that the resolution was calling for EVERY parent pull their kids out of EVERY public school!!

I believe the facts will be layed on the table---and conventioneers will be educated as to----hey---the SBC is NOT against public school---but the SBC is against homosexual education being spread like a disease across our public school systems of America. Homosexuality is now a wildfire out of control---and the SBC can serve as a spiritual fire station---to extinquish those hellish flames----

I will be in Nashville and my card will be lifted up in the affirmative the minute this resolution hits the floor!!!!!

I definitely oppose graphic homosectual books and teaching supporting the homosexual lifestyle in public schools. On the other hand, I think children need to be taught that others have the civil (not Christian) right to be different than they are in many different ways. We don't need repeat performances of that boy murdered in Wyoming, That does nothing to further the gospel.

When I was in high school, I took a course in public speaking. One of my speeches had a religious theme. One day a boy in the class who I had always thought to be a little strange came to our house and asked to speak to me privately. It seemed that he was wrestling with homosexual tendencies and asked for my help. He guessed that since I was willing to talk about God in front of a public high school class that I must be a Christian. Well, I was but I certainly didn't have the maturity, life experience, or wisdom to tackle this particular issue. I referred him to a pastor.

I suppose what I'm trying to say is that a Christian example is far better than simply gay bashing as the women in this article seems to condone. Schools do need restrictions on what they can present, however, as I said earlier.
