Military Suicides

The military and the VA find it easier...and cheaper... to prescribe drugs than
treat the conditions.

It's a travesty.

It would be very interesting to know if military suicide has increased since Obama's been in office. Does any know? I tend to think this president and his people have caused many vets to short circuit.

According to an AP report, linked to though Fox News, the suicide rate started the upward trend in 2006 reaching peak in 2009. It looks like they started closely tracking in 2001. Doesn't look like who is in the presidency matters as the rate dropped for two years after the peak.

From some other articles I've read, there seems to be a huge concern for veterans from the Vietnam era, which has seen a huge increase in suicide rates, reflected in the general population of baby boomers.

It is such a sad, sad situation.

If you have ever been to a VA facility or worse, had to use their services, you know who bad the VA really is. I have been in a couple of VA hospitals in recent years, one as a contractor and another helping a vet, and I personally wouldn't want my dog to be treated in either one.
