Ever wonder why so many road blocks are found along the way to thinking the Bible was right, freedom is better than slavery?
For example, removing monuments to those who advocated slavery is a step forward. But the defacing and pulling down of monuments lawlessly completely undercuts the effort.
Of course not! But the Auschwitz reminders do not suggest the place had a good side. We can have plenty of monuments of the civil war, depicting the chains, scares and horrific circumstances. OTOH, these monuments put up by the Jim Crow folks honoring the advocates of slavery are a stain on American culture. But their removal must be by the consent of governed according to law.Rather than destroying such monuments, perhaps move them to a site where historical information about slavery and the Confederacy can be accessed by those who choose to visit. Kind of like the Holocaust museums and memorials. Should Auschwitz be demolished because of the horrors that took place there, or left as is so we never forget those horrors?
Well doneDone!
