MMF - The best singing I ever heard

I was in a meeting when a preacher requested that all the ladies in the building sing Near the Cross-, with no musicale instruments. He got a lot of strange looks but his request was honored.

If you don’t mind getting some funny looks, try it out and let me know what you think.

I attended a Church of Christ unversity for my undergraduate training. We were required to go to chapel daily. We sang every day and sometimes had entire services devoted just to singing. A Capella music is the most beautiful music I have ever experienced as part of worship. I would disagree with the Church of Christ's total prohibition of musical instruments from a scriptural standpoint, but it is a very pure and beautiful way to praise God.

ON SUNDAY NIGHT WITH 400 PEOPLE THE OLD RUGGED CROSS NORMAL THEN PIANO DROPS OUT ON THE COR. MAN IT MAKE A SAVED BOY RUN(NOT REALLY IN SIDE)

Primitive Baptist use no musical instruments.....and the singing is beautiful. Just old hymns

We do that for the sake of variety at times, and at other times we are forced to do it out of necessity because our pianist is sick. It is nice, but I like it better with an organ or piano accompaniment.

Like most Baptist churches, we have a few very gifted singers, and, well, "others". It is a great joy to sing a capella, even though there is a monotone drone of the non-tune-carriers.

Treat it like a dulcimer or bagpipe hum and let those who CAN sing parts, lift it out.

Went to a music seminar at the Methodist church. They suggested we ALL SING UNISON on every song, to reinforce the melody to the younger generation.

So, 150 or so "music professionals" in this gothic-style church, singing in unison with heavy pipe organ.

UGLY.

What I wouldn't have given for To God be the Glory a capella in 4-part glory!

I'm a Primitive Baptist song leader and have been one for 33 years and there is nothing that can compare to singing unto the Lord without musical instruments.

I have one question for everyone, When the saved saints of God are gathered around his awesome throne will we be accompanied by, organs, pianos, horns, guitars, drums, ect, ect... A heavenly orchestra?

A multiplied thousand times NO!

Now visualize a multitude which no man can number singing praises unto our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ... Acappella!

The best singing I ever heard is when I went to camp at Falls Creek Baptist Assembly in Southern Oklahoma, where voices of 6 to 8000 people meshed to praise our living Saviour.. . classic hymns to current praise and worship choruses..... what a blessing I believe it was on God's ears. . ..
