I imagine there is accountability -- at the very least to each other.

I help moderate a teacher board and we have some pretty lengthy discussions at time about what to do about particular posts. On another board I help moderate, there is a place to move posts until we can come to a consensus on what to do with them.

I think we have some wonderful moderators too!

The biggest problem I have with the moderators (all of whom I believe sincerely try to do their best) is that while they can take BB members to task for misdeeds, we are told not to openly criticize or challenge their moderatorial (is that a word  ) decisions.

On the whole, they do a fine job, but yes they should be accountable for their actions.

By the way, what is the difference between a moderator and an administrator?

Moderators only have limited control over specific fora. Administrators have the power to suspend or ban posters, as well as edit or delete posts anywhere on the board.

Moderators are under the authority of the owner and administrators.

To answer the question of the Poll, I do think a mderator should be accountable. I also feel that 99.5% of the time, they do an outstanding job, but there are those times, when I have seen moderators "moderate" their own forums when people like myself post in them and they don't agree with.

I have seen threads closed because of no other reason then the discussion was going against the moderator that started the thread.

I have seen them edit what they considered personal attacks, yet in the same thread, they themselves have posted something I would consider a personal attack against users.

So, for the most part, I think they do a good job, I do believe there is and have been errors in their judgement some times..

99.5% isn't a bad grade I suppose..

I think both of those accusations are false, and I challenge you to prove either one.

No, I will not, at least not in public. Anyone that has read this board, and the many threads will see what I am talking about without calling out any specific names.

This thread/board isn't about name calling. A question was asked, and I answered it with my opinion as I see it.

No, you answered it with an accusation. You stated it as fact, with yourself as a witness. You should prove it, or retract it.
