That list what not all that long. Here is what else we had to
NOT do when I became a teen 50 years ago.

no dancing
no novels under 100 years old
no funny books (now known as 'comic books')
hardly any makeup (lite lipstick was MAX
--- and maybe some foundation, if nobody could see it)
no computers (they hadn't been invented yet)
no unescorted dates until 17
You know that brings up another possible no no. Using the internet could be seen as the "appearance of evil". There is so much trash on the internet: porn, instructions for all kinds of evil things, gambling and an endless supply of places to shop! How does your neighbor know if you're just using it to chat on the BB or surfing for porn? Best to just give it up.

Please don't use the phrase 'appearance of evil' with me.
I use it as one of my TOP TWENTY most misunderstood &/or
misquoted Bible verses:

-----------------------------------------
1 Thessalonians 5:22 (HCSB):

Stay away from every form of evil.

1 Thessalonians 5:22 (KJV1769 with Strong's #):

1Th 5:22 Abstain567 from575 all3956
appearance1491 of evil.4190

G1491
εἶδος
eidos
i'-dos
From G1492; a view, that is, form (literally
or figuratively): - appearance, fashion, shape, sight.

note, not "looks like"

I think its a little silly using this "list" of things that some thing are wrong things to do... in order to try to make the idea of thinking that this type of music is wrong seem ridiculous... people could just as easily do the same thing if there was something you thought was a wrong thing to do.

It means nothing. Hardly worthy of adding into a debate.

The point was Claudia that there is too much judging of Christian brothers and sisters going on. Have you been reading all the threads on modesty lately? Thank the Lord that He judges the heart and not clothing styles or music. There are some on this board who even question a person's salvation based on what a person wears or what kind of music they listen to!

Matthew 7:3 And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?
4 Or how can you say to your brother, Let me remove the speck from your eye; and look, a plank is in your own eye.
5 Hypocrite! First remove the speck from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

John 7:24 do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.

1 Samuel 16:7 But the Lord said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart".

Excellent article. Thanks for the link.
And on the previous page, right below the link xdicsiple quoted some of it. It is just unbiblical, conjured up assertions about beat accents (WHERE in scripture do you get anything like that? Who said marching was always good, and dancing always bad?). And at the bottom of it all is the continent this beat is coming from. You all need to stop trying to correct everyone else long enough to look good and hard at some of your teachings, and where they really come from.

Amy,

why is it you would see someone who has a differeing point of view as you are JUDGING someone? arent you the one doing that?

sometimes I feel like people try to intimidate others into submitting to their point of view instead of merely stating their position on a topic and leaving it at that.

show me where I ever in one sentence JUDGED someone on this thread?

Differing points of view is fine, but when someone questions another's salvation based on their clothing or music then it becomes judging. I did not judge, but others have. You can read the threads on modesty and see it for yourself.

well Amy, seriously, the entire Bible is about whether or not you are going to be saved and so just about each topic is going to be discussing whether or not doing this or that is going to hinder your salvation. That doesnt mean someone is judging you personally.

heck I may as well just agree with all the opening statements to be on the safe side...

Claudia, when someone questions your salvation or calls you "ungodly" because of your choice of music or dress or any "thing" that is an outward appearance, they are judging you. If someone disagrees with me on an issue, that's fine. We all have our own view, but judging is something else entirely. That was my point. And that has been happening a lot on the BB lately.

It is against the BB rules to question another poster's salvation. If/when that happens - hit the "report post" button and report it. It's the little yellow triangle at the top corner of each post.
