Oregon’s biggest coronavirus outbreak yet is linked to Union County church

At least 236 coronavirus cases have been linked to an outbreak at Lighthouse United Pentecostal Church in Union County’s Island City, a small town near La Grande, confirmed Deputy State Epidemiologist Tom Jeanne. The outbreak accounts for 47% of the 462 cases reported statewide since Monday.

“That does make this the largest single outbreak of COVID-19 in Oregon to date," Jeanne said.

We went back to in-building services last Sunday. Since they are streamed I am not going for a few weeks to see how things go as there have been issues as the OP notes. But it looks like everyone was well spaced out last Sunday between individuals and families from the photos I have seen.

This seems to have more on the matter. A couple of things stand out. They “recently hosted a testing clinic…” [whose] “‘…results confirm the presence of COVID-19 in the community.’” And…

Two weeks ago Tuesday, hundreds of locals protested for racial equity in downtown La Grande. While many in the throng wore facial coverings, they did not remain 6 feet apart from one another, and the protest lasted several hours.

The county worked with the church to host a testing clinic, according to Dr. Paul Cieslak, medical director for infectious diseases and immunizations at the Health Authority Public Health Division. He said 365 people in the county were tested over the weekend, 66 percent of tests came back positive.
Oregon coronavirus outbreak linked to one church, authorities say

So, protesters gathered two weeks ago Tuesday (June 2nd). These protesters may or may not have attended the pentecostal church. I'm going to say I doubt that pentecostal church goers are the same demographic as protesters.

Oregon? I wouldn't put it past them to put the blame on churches, even when there might be other interactions that might be more prevalent.
