Don't have a link yet, but just saw Pres Bush speaking to Tony Blair and heard him say on what they clearly did not know was a live mic -

"...they need to stop all this (expletive deleted)..."

I am sure you all will be hearing about it soon.

Heard it this morning. I wonder what Pat Robertson and James Dobson will say about this?

    I can guess -

"President Bush is still a young Christian. His language will improve as he grows in Christ."

Saw this earlier. It's a reminder, to me, that those of us who claim Christ should act like the camera is always on.

Thanx for posting it, I was wondering how to do it without sensationalizing......

Yep, exactly. The microphone and camera are always on for all of us. We should rejoice that God commands and trusts us to remember that.

I'd hate to be president and have someone trying to catch every little mistake or bit of "french" that slipped out.

But of course, I'm not normal. I never make mistakes.

And try not to judge those that do.

Of all of the idiotic things to worry about, this one is at the top of the list.

People are dying and war is threatening to break out. Countless more will die.

President Bush saying a naughty word pales in comparison.

Come on, people. How about getting a little perspective on things.

Boy, good thing we don't have to post every time a Christian says a bad word! We'd be busy all the time! But then again, I'm not blinded by a hatred for them that makes me feel obligated to try and expose all of their shortcomings (or jump in on the finger-pointing.) There is an interesting double-standard at work around here as to "sin-policing" or "judging".

I hate to say it but you are probably right. I guess Scriptures like Ephesians 5:1-12 don't mean much in when political activism becomes one of the main driving forces?

==Actually my comments have nothing to do with Bush himself. My comments refer to the way the modern evangelical church is selling out to the republican party and thus losing its Biblical foundations. The way I see it is the modern evangelical community has put way too much money and effort into the "Bush is a Christian" campaign. Go into your local Christian bookstore and you will see what I mean.

Is Bush a Christian? I don't know. I do know that he seems to have made a bad habit of cursing. Anyone who freely "lets one go" in public on a regular basis has a problem. So it does raise some questions in light of verses like Ephesians 5:1-12. I am not judging here, btw, I am just repeating the warning of Scripture...

"Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them;" Eph 5:6-7

What things? Well one such thing is "silly talk or coarse jesting" which Paul says "are not fitting" for Christians.

I like what John MacArthur said about this verse and I certainly think it applies here...

"No Christian will be sinless in this present life, but it is dangerously deceptive for Christians to offer assurance of salvation to a professing believer whose life is characterized by persistent sin and who shows no shame for that sin"

I don't know if Bush is a Christian or not. I pray that he is! However his constant "foul mouth" is something he should examine. I know from personal experience that sometimes God will push me into a corner and force me to deal with something that is wrong in my life. Maybe that is why the "mic" was on? I don't know. But if so that is actually a good thing (1Cor 11:32).

I am not going to spend my money on the "Bush is a Christian" campaign though. Bush is, after all, a politician who needs the "Christian right". We should keep that in mind before we fall hook, line, and sinker for the "Bush is a Christian" campaign. Again, is Bush a Christian? I don't know enough to say yes, or no.

And how do you know he has a "constant foul mouth"?

Has it ever occured to you that words are not sinful in and of themselves?

If you're going to condemn President Bush for saying "S***", then are you also going to condemn Paul for saying "dung"?

Frankly, I'd be much more worried about the salvation of someone who goes around spreading malicious rumors than someone who let's loose an occasion word that we're not even sure is sinful.

My wife said that she'd prefer to have a president who uses dirty words than the one we had that practiced them, if that's the only differences.

Agree with you, Martin. I voted for Bush the first time because he professed to be a "Christian." I didn't vote for him twice. I voted CP.

That is nothing compared to the vast hypocracy on display here all the time.

Probably talking about the hypocrisy of condemning the President for using a cuss word while at the same time many here are puffed up with knowledge/pride, quick to cut one another with said supposed knowledge, mean-spirited toward one another, judge one another, etc.

I'm not so sure of that. He may have meant for what he said to be made public.

With a war going on between Israel and Hamas/Hezbollah President Bush probably doesn't feel like pulling any punches. I don't use that kind of language but I appreciate his sentiments about Syria.
