The Mormon Tabernacle Choir has changed its name to The Tabernacle Choir....The name change comes two months after church President Russell M. Nelson’s requested in August that the 360-member chorus of men and women discontinue using the term 'Mormon'

It is a reflection of wider move recently on the part of the church to be known by the full name (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) rather than the one word name. One way of getting people to spend more time talking about them
