Wonder how many of those fighters came from Libya and Syria where Washington and the Saudis have been funding and arming them?

And we all know who was dumb enough to actually take us to war. Others stupidity do not excuse him. He acted ... the buck stops there. :tear:

After losing 3,527 U.S. combat troops in action and another 961 in non-combat accidents, after spending $1.7 trillion in U.S. support for the war, the Little Marxist Dictator pulled us out of the country without leaving any kind of support or supply line for the weak Iraqi government to lean on.

Every life lost, every permanently disabled America veteran, is dishonored by this empty-headed, empty-suited communist in the White House, and certainly every dollar spent since 2003 is wasted, as it appears al-Qaeda will now take over the country, likely before the end of 2015.

Only in Vietnam did we similarly pack up and go home, leaving no support for the people for whom we had fought for so long. Not surprising, given that the Vietnam War was also run by a socialist government, though no one in the U.S. had the guts to say that out loud then.

We were a laughing stock then, though everyone laughed behind their hands, because we were still the most powerful country in the world. No more. Now they laugh openly at us. The end of the U.S. as we know is much too close for comfort, and the next election will tell us if there is any hope at all.

How much more good money would you throw after bad?

How many more good American men and women would you sacrifice?

The laughter was loudest when Dubya sayd, "Mission accomplished".

There would be no such laughter if Dubya had not been so ignorant and so misinformed that he actually sent troops there.

Those who do not learn from history ................

Those who are ignorant of history ..................

Obviously you have forgotten that Bush set the pull out date.

The Status of Forces Agreement that the Bush Administration signed with the Iraq government specified that U.S. combat forces would withdraw from Iraqi cities by June 30, 2009, and all U.S. forces will be completely out of Iraq by December 31, 2011.

I knew you would say that. That's why I added the DEMOCRATS that demanded war. Before Bush was elected, even.

We know who is dishonest enough to not accept the truth of the matter. Had Gore been elected in 2000, his party OBVIOUSLY would have taken us into Iraq, as well.

Well you are one of those folk. After all Obama did not start the war and he followed the Bush timetable for troop withdrawal. But you and others want to revise history and put all the blame on Obama. I do believe that Bush can plea ignorance ... not a good excuse ... and to being misguided by his neocon hawk advisers.

There will be no peace in Iraq until the next dictator takes over and rules after the bloodbath and then through fear and more blood.

There were very ignorant folk in both parties ... still are as a matter of fact.

There is no way to prove that Gore would have taken us to war. He might have, he might not have. That is pure speculation and irrelevant to history.

An outright lie. The Bush timetable called for military advisors and private contractors to remain in Iraq to help with stability and infrastructure. Unilaterally, your Marxist president withdrew those promises of support.

I never mentioned Obama in my post.

We only have him and his boss, and every high-ranking official in his party demanding it. To say it wouldn't happen is foolish.

As you are trying to shift blame away from Bush who else could you really blame. Gore was never president and never made the decision one way or another. So it is pure speculation on your part.

So, do you blame Bush for the mess?

Sorry, you are wrong again. You really need to do some research before making ignorant statements.

A relatively small contingent of military advisers reportedly has been in Iraq since combat forces withdrew.

I never shifted any blame away from anyone, I steered it towards the administration who started the wheels turning, inevitably ending in war. The rest is you not liking it, forcing you to try and make it about me, making you read things in my post that are not there.

Yup. Cheney. Colin Powell, Guliani, Michelle Bachmann. All reasons I ditched the republican party. They're in it, as well. Do you blame the people I mentioned in the O/P ? Be honest, now.

Nothing is inevitable until the decision is made. Bush made the decision. That is his legacy. No one else can be blamed. As Truman's sign on his desk said, "The Buck Stops Here." The buck stops with Bush. Those before him cannot be blamed. Those who might have been president cannot be blamed.

Anyone who voted for going to war is also to blame. But the ultimate responsibility is the president. .[/QUOTE]

And echoing down the halls of liberal revisionist history is the blood-curdling scream --- IT'S BUSH'S FAULT

Perhaps by you. I blame them. I blame everyone, before and after Bush. Gore deserves blame for demanding war, just as much as anyone else. Bush could not go to war without authorization. They need to accept responsibility for their roles in this.

From the article at allan west's:

from the article: Fighters with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), an al-Qaida offshoot, overran the western bank of the city overnight after U.S.-trained Iraqi soldiers and police officers abandoned their posts,,,,,“When the battle got tough in the city of Mosul, the troops dropped their weapons and abandoned their posts, making it an easy prey for the terrorists,” said Iraq’s speaker of parliament, Osama al-Nujaifi, who is from Mosul...."

so, if US-trained troops and cops do not think Iraq is worth dying for, why should we Americans think otherwise ?

NO MORE AMERICAN TROOPS ANYWHERE. PERIOD.

Bill Clinton signed the Iraq Liberation Act on 10/31/1998, plunging millions of taxpayer dollars into supporting a Democratic uprising, or in other words, starting a civil war.

Here are his words on 12/16, same year.

[W]e must be prepared to use force again if Saddam takes threatening actions, such as trying to reconstitute his weapons of mass destruction or their delivery systems, threatening his neighbors, challenging allied aircraft over Iraq, or moving against his own Kurdish citizens. The credible threat to use force and, when necessary, the actual use of force, is the surest way to contain Saddam's weapons of mass destruction program, curtail his aggression and prevent another Gulf War.
. . .
The hard fact is that so long as Saddam remains in power, he threatens the well-being of his people, the peace of his region, the security of the world. The best way to end that threat once and for all is with the new Iraqi government, a government ready to live in peace with its neighbors, a government that respects the rights of its people.
. . .
Heavy as they are, the costs of action must be weighed against the price of inaction. If Saddam defies the world and we fail to respond, we will face a far greater threat in the future. Saddam will strike again at his neighbors; he will make war on his own people. And mark my words, he will develop weapons of mass destruction. He will deploy them, and he will use them.
. . .
In the century we're leaving, America has often made the difference between chaos and community; fear and hope. Now, in a new century, we'll have a remarkable opportunity to shape a future more peaceful than the past -- but only if we stand strong against the enemies of peace. Tonight, the United States is doing just that.

You'll note, as referenced in my O/P, that after Bush was elected, the democrat leadership never recanted the rhetoric.
