Mouse /Cursor Problems

    Has anyone ever had the following problem before.....
    I'm using a laptop with a touchpad...lately, it seems that the cursor shoots to the bottom left hand corner of the screen by itself...it usually lands on the start button...I've had problems with my touchpad *tapping* facility before, as it's hyper sensitive, so this new problem was getting annoying. It's been happening more often lately, and even after a re-format, it hasn't fixed it. I've started turning the touchpad off altogether and instead started using a regular usb mouse. But the problem hasn't changed. The cursor itself still shoots off to the bottom left start button by itself every so often. Is this a problem that can be fixed, as I have no idea how to...a friend of mine has the same problem on his laptop aswell. We both run windows XP home ed, but I haven't always had this problem. It's only been over the past month or so. His laptop is new though.

    My thinking is that this issue is at the hardware level (because of all of your work on it). I've learned that tracking devices will, on their own, try to calibrate themselves. The fact that you disabled the laptop's tracking device and hooked another pointing device up with the same problem, throws in something that is unexplainable.

    At any rate, there is some explanation for this behavior.

    My optical USB mice at home and at work also do this infrequently. Nevertheless, as infrequent as it happens to me, I never appreciate it.
