No, I'm talking about a moving sermon that leads leads to change, I'm talking about physically changing a church location.

Has anybody been involved in out-growing a church site and needing to change locations to continue to grow?

I spent the afternoon with our pastor and deacons looking at another nearby site and I'm excited.

I'm interested in hearing about your experence moving the congregation to a new site.

If you are looking in the same relative geographic area, then the excitement of a newer and better facility should draw all of the old and some new folks as well.

Our church moved from a rented stroe-front into an old beat up church. About a mile away. But getting that place cleaned up and ready drew the people together. + having "our own" building was a plus.

Made a better impression in the community, too.

We have moved to three different buildings.

We started in 1966, moved to a larger facility on 1969, then again in 1997.

The move in 1969 was to a larger facility that grew from a church building to several houses adjacent to the church which we outgrew.

We remodeled the building we moved into in '69 it was a former Lutheran church so it was necessary to redo the platform area.

Over the years we converted a garage on the property to 2 classrooms, a two story house next door became our bible institute building during the week and Sunday school classrooms on Sunday.

We also outgrew this rambling aging complex but lacked the funds to relocate. We prayed for years for new property but couldn't seem to get anything going. Then came 1997.

In April of 1997 we lost our building to a flood, some were upset, while some praised the Lord as we knew if the Lord took our building he would provide something better. From the time we had to leave our building until we built our new one we met in a motel convention hall,a university lecture hall (now there is a moving of the Lord, an IFB church meeting on a secular university campus)

We rented a building from the city but had to move because they said because of separation of Church and state we couldn't rent from the city???????????

We spent several months in an art museum, now that was interesting; before and after each service we had to set up and take down chairs and move the piano.

The last temporary site was the basement of an office complex.

Throughout this period of confusion we continued to grow.

Churches sent us love offerings, enough to purchase a property for a building. We then purchased a steel building that was erected by a contractor.

We then took on the task of competing the inside of the building and now have a wonderful facility.

This whole experience taught us much about trusting the Lord and realized the church is not a building but the people who occupy the building
