Mr. Gilchrist Goes to Washington

President Bush and Condoleeza Rice call him a “Vigilante”. American citizens call him a Patriot. Yes, a Patriot is how Jim Gilchrist is seen in the eyes of citizens who want the illegal alien invasion crisis to come to a complete halt.

From coast to coast, American citizens are applauding Jim Gilchrist, founder of the Minuteman Project, for announcing his candidacy to run for Congress in California's 48th District. What a treat for District 48! Telephone lines and e-mails are overwhelmed with the buzz of this announcement.

Gilchrist's brilliant idea of placing Minutemen on the border while defending our country with a cell phone, a lawn chair and a pair of binoculars, was successful beyond measure. Jim Gilchrist, along with co-sponsor Chris Simcox, led an army of about 1,000 concerned citizens in April to the Arizona/Mexico border.

The mission was highly successful and word of its success was seen throughout America that people still care about the sovereignty of their country. Many television personalities including Lou Dobbs, Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly, covered the 30 day long April event and applauded the efforts of these brave American citizens who take the issue of illegal immigration seriously.

Gilchrist, Simcox and their Minutemen brought national awareness to the serious issue of illegal immigration. Citizens answered the call to duty in April of this year to bring attention to our lax immigration laws and the elected and appointed public officials responsible for this dilemma.

Who better to join Congressman Tom Tancredo in fighting the good fight than Jim Gilchrist? Americans are losing their country and it's time they stop tolerating the quislings, traitors and spineless sellouts that place “cheap labor” business interests and desperate pandering to illegal aliens ahead of American citizens and legal immigrants.

It's time to put our money where our mouth is and support Jim Gilchrist in his run for Congress. We must donate our money to those individual candidates that demonstrate resolve and action against the illegal alien invasion. Stop donating your hard-earned money to political parties, organizations and candidates who offer only “lip service” and excuses for serious social and economic issues that will have detrimental effects on current and future generations.

POTENTIAL AMERICAN INDEPENDENT PARTY PRIMARY SPARKS WIDE INTEREST

A potential special election in California’s 48th Congressional district (parts of Orange County) has generated widespread interest in a contest for the American Independent Party’s nomination.

President George W. Bush has appointed the 48th’s Republican Congressman Christopher Cox to the chairmanship of the Securities and Exchange Commission. Cox has resigned his House seat, and a special election will be called to fill the vacancy.

Three potential candidates have indicated an interest in the American Independent Party nomination in the special election. They are:

- Former U.S. Rep. Robert K. (Bob) Dornan who formerly represented part of Orange County as its Congressman. Dornan served in the House as a Republican from 1977-83 and 1985-97. A controversial and combative figure in the House, Dornan feels he has been mistreated by the Republican Party and so has become interested in the American Independent Party whose platform he supports.

- Jim Gilchrist, founder of the Minuteman Project, has also expressed interest in the nomination. Last April, he led his volunteers to Arizona to help patrol the border with Mexico to prevent illegal immigrants from entering the United States. Gilchrist joined the American Independent Party in 1992 because he supports the party’s immigration policies.

- C. Arthur (Art) James has also expressed interest in the race. He is a retired “congressional watchdog” who spent 10 years in the military as an Air Force officer, seeing service in Vietnam.

Mark Seidenberg, Orange County A.I.P. chairman and a member of the Constitution Party’s National Committee, has encouraged all three potential candidates to seek the American Independent Party nomination for the congressional seat. He notes that the multiple interest in the A.I.P. nomination is evidence of the party’s increasing attractiveness and viability.

17 candidates meet deadline to run for Cox's congressional seat

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Seventeen people have qualified to run for the 48th Congressional District seat vacated by Newport Beach Republican Christopher Cox, who resigned last month to become chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Each candidate had to pay a $1,621 filing fee or collect enough signatures from registered voters to qualify. Three people filed papers but didn't qualify because they didn't have enough signatures, registrar's office spokesman Brett Rowley said Tuesday.

Residents will vote in a special primary election Oct. 4. If no one candidate gets the majority, a runoff will be held Dec. 6.

The district includes Irvine, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Hills, Lake Forest, Newport Beach and Tustin.

Qualifying candidates include 10 Republicans, four Democrats and one each from the American Independent, Libertarian and Green parties.

Republican candidates include former Assemblywoman Marilyn Brewer; state Sen. John Campbell; dentist David R. Crouch; and former Tustin Councilman John Kelly.

Other Republican candidates are lawyer Scott MacCabe; attorney Guy E. Mailly; Realtor Marsha A. Morris; businessman Marshall Samuel Sanders; businessman Edward A. Suppe; and physician Don Udall.

Democratic candidates include teacher Bea Foster; university professor John Graham; marketing consultant Tom Pallow; and attorney Steve Young.

Jim Gilchrist, 56, who gained notoriety with his Minuteman Project to patrol portions of the U.S.-Mexico border, is running as an American Independent Party candidate. Realtor Bruce Cohen will run as a Libertarian. Teacher Bea Tiritilli is a Green Party candidate.

Campbell, who is considered a favorite in the race, has raised more than $500,000, as has Brewer, according to campaign finance reports. Brewer has been endorsed by Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., while Campbell has the support of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

If no candidate garners a majority of votes on October 4, then there will be a runoff election in December where the top vote-getters of each party advances.

American Independent Party (Constitution Party) candidate Jim Gilchrist is GUARANTEED to appear on the December runoff in the event that no winner is declared on October 4 because he is the only AIP candidate in the race.

Anything can happen, and God is certainly in control of all things, and if it is His will, then Gilchrist will become the first-ever Constitution Party member elected to Congress.
