    Iran eyes badges for Jews
    Law would require non-Muslim insignia

    EXCERPT

Human rights groups are raising alarms over a new law passed by the Iranian parliament that would require the country's Jews and Christians to wear coloured badges to identify them and other religious minorities as non-Muslims.

"This is reminiscent of the Holocaust," said Rabbi Marvin Hier, the dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles. "Iran is moving closer and closer to the ideology of the Nazis."

Iranian expatriates living in Canada yesterday confirmed reports that the Iranian parliament, called the Islamic Majlis, passed a law this week setting a dress code for all Iranians, requiring them to wear almost identical "standard Islamic garments."

The law, which must still be approved by Iran's "Supreme Guide" Ali Khamenehi before being put into effect, also establishes special insignia to be worn by non-Muslims.

Iran's roughly 25,000 Jews would have to sew a yellow strip of cloth on the front of their clothes, while Christians would wear red badges and Zoroastrians would be forced to wear blue cloth.

"There's no reason to believe they won't pass this," said Rabbi Hier. "It will certainly pass unless there's some sort of international outcry over this."

Don't worry about it Carpro. They're no danger. Completely benign. We shouldn't do anything at all until they show us their nukes voluntarily.

These identifiers? Why they're probably just trying to ensure the rights of these minorities.

In all seriousness, these people are dangerous and I doubt we have the means to prove their nuclear capabilities before it is too late or the will to prevent them from developing them.

We're definitely going to have to do something about Iran. I truly hope it won't involve war, but if we have to go to war, then we have to go to war. We can't let these radical Islamo-Nazis turn Iran into the Third Reich, Iran style.

This would be a really stupid idea by the Iranian parliament if it is confirmed to be accurate.

The sooner something is done the more limited it will have to be.

ie, Iraq (Saddam) vs Nazis (Hitler)

Or since some of you won't like that comparison:

The Founders should have dealt with slavery. Many if not most of the plantation owners were Tories and the fighting at worst would have been minor and local. Instead, we got the Civil War with horrible death and carnage.

The problem is there is no way to go to war against Iran without Iran being able to do mega-damage to the U.S. and world economies through actions that would at least double the price of oil.

This would not be the same situation as we had facing an emaciated Iraq.

If we go to war with Iran, then the American people had best be prepared to deal with similar economic conditions that our parents and grandparents dealt with in the 1930s.

That is true. We'd need to do something that to the humanistic west seems unthinkable and would disrupt geopolitics for years. We'd have to take over Iran and control their oil wells for years. We would literally have to conquer them.

But the US can't and won't do it alone. It would take a real coalition... not just the US, Britain, and the roadies like its been in the two Iraq wars. France, Germany, and especially Russia would have to put some might behind the effort.

All that said, how do we calculate the cost comparison between having our economies disrupted now and having our children endure nuclear terrorism?

You may disagree but I think Iran with the bomb virtually guarantees its use by terrorists.

That's also true. It would probably take a million or more troops operating in a WW2 type of cooperation... Won't happen unless Russia happened to be Irans first target.

If we don't do something, we better prepare our children for much worse.

Unfortunately... we better prepare our children 'cause there is not enough international will to stop Iran.

</font>[/QUOTE]Similar to Iraq, no help with Iran would be forthcoming from Russia. They are up to their armpits in the pockets of the Iranians just like they, along with France, were with the Iraqis.

Europeans will, in general, be no help until the mushroom cloud over some European country settles down.

Whatever is done, we have to be prepared to do it alone. But to have the backing of our citizens for that endeavor, we will first have to wait for the inevitable attack killing tens of thousands of Americans.

Then the war will have to be won and Iran functioning under their own democratic government within 2 years. We must have no more than 1000 servicemen killed in action.

If these conditions are not met, people like Kerry, Gore, Kennedy, Clinton, and other assorted liberal appeasers will be waiting in the wings to try to turn another win into a loss.

Iranians aren't Arabs. The name 'Iran' comes from 'Land of the Aryans'.

    They may have another revolution.

The Taliban in Afghanistan wanted to make the Hindus there wear a patch on their clothing to distringuish them from the Muslims. This has been done in different periods of Muslim history. In Egypt during the Middle Ages, Jews had to wear a yellow turban and Christians had to wear a blue turban so people would know they weren't Muslims. It's part of being a dhimmi to keep non Muslims as second-class citizens.

    From the Jerusalem Post link:

'Iranian Jewish lawmaker Morris Motamed told the AP: "Such a plan has never been proposed or discussed in parliament. Such news, which appeared abroad, is an insult to religious minorities here."'

The article also quotes the bill's sponsor as stating the the bill was attempting to get women to dress more conservatively and to stay away from Western fashions.

This could indeed prompt a revolution if there was widespread enforcement of such a dress code in Iran since so many of the people in Iran are young women(and men) who want to emulate the West.

The best thing we could do for Iran is to pray the Holy Spirit will move through that nation and millions upon millions will come to know Him as their personal Savior.
