ARE YOU READY FOR CHRISTMAS​

JOSEPH​

1. MARY GOT READY FOR CHRISTMAS BY ACCEPTING GOD’S WILL
Ø Luke 1:38 - And Mary said, "Behold, the bondslave of the Lord; may it be done to me according to your word." And the angel departed from her.
THEREFORE: Be ready to accept God’s will whatever it may be


2. JOSEPH GOT READY FOR CHRISTMAS BY OBEDIENCE
Ø Matthew 1:24 – 25 - And Joseph awoke from his sleep and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took Mary as his wife, but kept her a virgin until she gave birth to a Son; and he called His name Jesus.
THEREFORE: Be willing to obey even when it goes against our plans.
Joseph had a plan for his life; live the simple life of a carpenter, marry Mary, have a family and be a good and righteous man


3. SHEPHERDS GOT READY FOR CHRISTMAS BY DOING THEIR JOB
Ø Luke 2:8-12 - In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."
THEREFORE: Do what you already know to be right.

4. WISE MEN GOT READY FOR CHRISTMAS BY ACCEPTING GOD’S TRUTH IN HIS WORD, THE SKY AND IN THE STABLE.
Ø Matthew 2:1-2 - Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, "Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him."
THEREFORE: Begin your search for God’s truth where you are.

 

My sermon from yesterday would be to long to post and besides it was in Spanish. But for what its worth here is a summery:

Luke 2:20 "Ordinary People and the Extraordinary Savior"

1. The shepherds were ordinary people like you and I but met the extraordinary Savior. Therefore: Ordinary people can know the extraordinary Savior

2. The purpose of God's revelation of Christ was for His names sake. (Glory to God in the highest) Therefore: Ordinary people meet the extraordinary Savior for the purpose of God's glory.

3. The shepherds lives experienced dramatic change. Therefore: When ordinary people meet the extraordinary Savior by the grace of God, it effects great change in their lives.

And if any one can read Spanish here is my concluding paragraph that summarizes the message:

Gente común puede conocer al Salvador extraordinario para que Dios sea glorificado por las vidas cambiadas.

My sermon on Sunday was the 3rd in a "Personalities of Christmas" series. It was Luke 2:1-20

1. The Savior was Born According to God's Plan v. 1-7

2. The Savior was Proclaimed According to God's Plan v. 8-20

 

I didn't use notes, in fact the Sermon came to me at the last minute... i preached extemporaneous and pretty much went through the 5th chpt of Rev verse by verse but this was my Text and subject...

The Worthy Lamb​

Rev 5:11 (KJV) And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;
12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.
13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.

 

I never use notes, except what is in my head.​

Jhn 3:16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

A Great Wonder in Heaven​

Rev 12:1¶And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:​

and tied it in with:​

Born poor but yet a King​

Luk 2:7And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.​

Wise men​

Mat 2:1¶Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,​

and with:​

Jhn 1:29¶The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. ​

I kept going back and forth from Rev. to the Gospels and preached all the way up until Jesus gave His life the greatest gift of all, tying in the Gospels with Rev. 12:1. I also included this gift is how we won the war over death, hell and the grave. ​

I used Revelation to preach the Gospels.​

I preached an hour service and I don't think anyone in the house got restless, it was a great day, giving all the glory to God. Much rejoicing.​

Preaching life to a dying world is definitely a privilege for which I gladly sacrifice all...

 

extemporaneous is the best sermons in my book LeBuick and you or God picked a good subject. I would of liked to of been able to hear you.

When I go into the pulpit, I go in prepared. I don't write out a sermon, or even use a lot of notes. I do tend to cobble together enough of an outline to help jog my memory, but I hardly ever have to look at it. My biggest help is printing out my scriptures ahead of time so I don't have to look for them. I mark my main one with a paperclip, so I can go to it at a moment's notice.

I study and prepare, but I let God do the talking.

 

Actually Bro Bob, I have to admit that I spent most of the day trying to tie Rev 12 into the gospel. You really put me to thinking with your message.

Who is the woman? Is it Mary? Israel? The Church?

The woman is so much the key to this and I can't figure out who she is.

I also don't fully understand this verse?

Rev 12:6 (KJV) And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

Is this Jesus fleeing into Egypt when he was born? If so, what is the thousand two hundred and threescore days reference? Could this be the period of Israel before Christ?

I was going to start another thread but I've been meditating on this wishing I could have heard your message... I can see wanting more even after an hour. :thumbs:

 

He came to His own, but His own received Him not but as many as did (The remnant of Israel, the election), He gave them power to become the sons of God. (The Church coming up out of the wilderness)

Act 7:38This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and [with] our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:

If they could of destroyed Jesus while He preached His own everlasting Gospel and before His time, the Devil knew Him and wanted Him destroyed, but could not until Jesus laid down His life.

The woman who fled was that same Church which had to be protected from being destroyed while Jesus taught His own everlasting Gospel. (Which was about a thousand, two hundred and three score days until Jesus said it is finished and His way had been set up among men, even unto the Gentiles and soon were filled with the Holy Ghost. Now Satan has gone out to make war with her seed, which is you and I for we were grafted in to that body or that Olive Tree and became a Jew inwardly also and now we are all One, neither Jew or Gentile but the Church of the Living God. They sought to destroy her and that is why Peter denied the Lord three times. They could not destroy her and now She is under Grace.

Sometimes I think it could of been when God spoke to Joseph and told him to take the child into Egypt. It still would be the church of which He was the King of. I don't know how long Joseph and Mary were in the land of Egypt until God called them out. regardless of which one, it still is the woman who came up out of the wilderness.

There is a lot more, but hope this gives you enough to see how I do see the woman, who was clothed with the sun (her countenance ) and the moon under her feet (The Law) and upon her head a crown of twelve stars (twelve tribes of Israel).She brought forth a man child. (Jesus) He came to sit upon the Throne of David, so she had to be the true Israel or Remnant who were found perfect before God.

Luke 2:
4: And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David
5: To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
6: And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
7: And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
8: And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
9: And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

13: When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
14: And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
15: He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16: And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17: And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18: And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
19: And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
