    You're kidding, right?? [IMG]

Maybe we need to start with, "What is your definition of 'favorite'?" :D

I think it would be easier for me to list my least favorite. Here they are:

    1. I-40 between OKC and Albuquerque (with the exception of a few miles just east of Albuquerque.
    2. I-70 between Denver and Kansas City.
    3. I-10 west of Phoenix.

Some good ones (they've pretty much already been mentioned):

    1. I-70 between Grand Junction and Denver.
    2. I-40 in Arkansas.
    3. I-40 between Flagstaff and Williams Arizona.
    4. That curvy section of I-40 just to the east of Albuquerque.
    5. I-55 between Memphis and St. Louis.
    6. I-17 between Camp Verde and Flagstaff.

I agree on I81 through PA. Absolutely beautiful!
The worst is anything through Michigan. That whole state is nothing but insane mean people driving insanely.

That's I-35W (Fort Worth to Denton) / I-35 (Denton to OKC) for those who don't have a map.

It's a nice stretch of road - not spectacular by any means, but still interesting and sometimes beautiful when the wildflowers are blooming.

Lived just two miles west of I-35E (branch thru Dallas) and had to make the trip to Minnesota/Wisconsin up the length of I-35. Hated every minute. Cannot envision to this day what would make that a "Favorite", except if you were seeing Texas in your rear view mirror!

If you look at the Red River bridge on I-35 going into Texas you'll see big scrape marks where I drug hands and feet trying to stop becoming a Texan.

That stretch of I-35 IS pretty uneventful, with the major exception of the Arbuckle Mountain region just north of Ardmore, OK. Very pretty country there.

Taking undue jabs at Texas is fun . . but has anyone ever crossed Wyoming on I-80 from Cheyenne to Evanston?

Wyoming is a truly beautiful state, but that is the sorryest piece of highway in the universe. It is across desert and wasteland, on the old Union Pacific route.

You can SEE lovely mountain vistas in the distance and yet for some people, all of Wyoming they see is that God-forsaken 400 mile stretch.

(Of course, you wouldn't see the gradeur of the mountains if it weren't for the flat prairies and plains. At least, that's what I tell folks)

I-80 from Auburn, CA to Reno, NV is beautiful, especially the summit overlooking Donner Lake and the Truckee River.

No idea how you lot work it, but down this way we have boring freeways everywhere. Sure they are quick, but no challenge, character, etc etc.

I love roads that twist and turn through all sorts of variations of God's creation, that way I have choice of taking it easy and looking at the view, or putting the foot down and having fun...or both at same time [IMG]

The best of the best in Oz are:
    </font>
    • Great Ocean Road, Victoria</font>
    • Great Alpine Road, Victoria</font>
    • Oxley Highway, between Pacific & New England Highways, New South Wales (glad NSW has one ;) )</font>
    • Just about EVERY road in Tasmania</font>

Speaking of 35, I can predict that the stretch between San Antonio and Dallas/Ft Worth will be just like the 95 corridor in the northeast. Driving north of San Antonio, you don't really see anything rural until you get north of Georgetown.

My main problem with I-35 between Dallas and San Antonio is that it's been under construction for at least the last 10 years!!!

(Used to take a bi-annual trip to the outlet mall in New Braunfels!!)

Dr. Bob, last year we drove from south Georgia to Northern Utah to visit my Mother-in-law.
traveled I-80 across Nebraska and Windy Wyoming.
Nebraska was flat and brown, Wyoming was hilly and brown and VERY WiNdY..........

Repair work was being done on I-40 all the way across Arkansas last year. That was, for a couple years anyway, the bumpiest stretch of Interstate anywhere, to my knowledge...

Oh, yeah, I-15 from Las vegas, NV to Layton, UT is a nice drive. Passes through the Virgin River Gorge.

ANY!! Dh and I LOVE going on long drives. We have THE BEST conversations. We have moved cross country now about 4 times now. We have either a CB or a two-way radio. We always have a blast.
