One of my favorite Christian fiction writers is Nancy Moser. I recently interviewed Nancy, and I've posted a transcript of the interview on my blog:

Check it out when you have a moment. I've read several of Nancy's books, and enjoyed them a great deal.

Nancy, I think one of the sad things about our modern age is that we as women don't bond as we should, and we tend to go our own separate ways...there's no longer a sewing circle, or a quilting bee, we don't help each other can, that sort of thing. Do you agree, and do you feel that women really can, if they make an effort to, just reach out and help each other through life?
Wow, that's so true Cindy! I want to check out that particular book.
You know, as artificial and shallow as it sounds when you think about what all is involved in religion, a lot of why I found mormonism so attractive was that people got together and did things, taught each other stuff. Canning, growing vegetables, sewing. It's virtually absent for so many of us, but it's something that really brings all the elements of friendship and being human together...you're physically in the companionship of others, learning, laughing, sharing, just really connecting on a number of levels.

I agree, Gina. And I'm just as guilty as anyone else.

I have a friend that I had pretty much lost contact with for a while, despite the fact that she lives fairly near me. During a time when I was very negligent of our friendship, she kept it going by calling me occasionally or asking me out to lunch.

I finally woke up and realized that our friendships with other women have to be actively nourished and pursued. Now, when I think of her, *I* pick up the phone. It's so easy to cocoon into our own little lives and not let others in...but I'm convinced it's unhealthy.

So much more enriching to reach out to other women and be an encouragement and blessing to each other!
