Need a fetus shower gift

A friend of mine is five months pregnant and is having a shower next month. When the fetus is done developing and has taken it's first breath it will be a baby girl. Any ideas on gifts since this will be the third fetus she's had transform into a human being?
I can hardly wait! It's such a miracle to witness that first breath, when they FINALLY inhale a soul and become real!

Hey, that's a good one. I had a miscarriage and the "doctor," told me that it was not a baby. He was not a very smart man. You see I had prayed for an opportunity to witness just like that.

The fetus, in America, is not a person.

Of course, Thudwick, the 'big-hearted moose' told us that "a person's a person,no-matter how small," but we haven't listened to him, nor have we listened to the Law of God. When a society claims that a human being is NOT a person, such as was done to black-folks in the 19th century, and to Jews, in Germany, in the 20th, then holocausts and injustice can be 'legally' done. There is simply no-greater tragedy in America than abortion. I pray that George W Bush will be able to fill the Supreme Court with Pro Life justices, and end the carnage that was brought about by Roe v. Wade.

Gina: I've never bought a fetus a gift, but I've taken many gifts to baby showers for unborn babies. I hope your post was in jest because this baby is not going to BECOME a baby girl. She is ALREADY a baby girl.

I usually buy a small soft music box that can be tied safely to the crib.

You could be pratical and buy a box or two of disposal diapers.

Or you could be sentimental and buy something pink!!

On a humorous note - when Jan was pregnant with our twin daughters (they're now 30) - and it was time for the baby(s) shower - she was sick in bed!

Guess who got to go and open all the gifts - while describing each one in detail to Jan on the telephone?

Yours truly!! Hey guys - does that nominate me for sainthood

or idiot of the year?

Thanks - though with my "When pigs fly" statement about getting a swimming pool - my wife might disagree sometimes about the "good husband" part.

PS - this is my 200th post!

Hey, I still want to know why it's called a baby shower. They're usually bathed following delivery, aren't they?

I actually get something for the mom, like a gift certificate for a pedicure, usually at Elizabeth Arden or Aveda (if you're gonna be pampered, be pampered!). The parents usually have everything they could need and more for the baby. And I always take something for dad (or both parents togather), and something for any existing kids.

Last time I had one of these, I gave the parents a gift certificate to Ruth's Chris (and offered my kid sitting services), and a Baby Einstein video for the kid (who was 15 months at the time).

If I know the people well, I almost always include kid sitting. It's free to me, and new parents can always do with a night out without the kiddos.

Me too...I didn't think he wasn't smart but I did think he was an insensitive jerk. But it wasn't based on just this one thing...he also said after my 3rd miscarriage.."I'm sure I'll see you back pregnant in a couple of months" made me furious...I really wanted to hurt him. I didn't try again for a couple of years. Too much strain on my heart...if you know what I mean.

Gina...does this have to do with that other thread?...the one where JohnV went through the different things that babies are called before they are born? I think it was about whether an unfertalized egg is a person or some such thing. ;)

What to buy, what to give, hmmmm...I like to give something personalized. I like to go for something silver plated and engraved but that you can't do until after they are born. something hand made is always special, like a blanket or quilt. Doesn't take too much imagination to buy a bib or a frilly dress for a baby girl, I usually don't go that route. I have a friend who after having her 4th child, (she now has 5) asked everyone to just give her disposable diapers. Very practical, and much needed. ;)

Why is it called a Shower? Maybe because God showers us with his blessings? I read that somewhere in the Bible.

Laurenda :D

Fetus shower...sounds like a greek foot bath to me. Fetus Showerus

Congrats on your 200th post Dan!

I think it's called a shower because we shower the baby with gifts. I have no idea if that's correct, but it sounds good!

I used to crochet baby blankets for all the showers but the babies started coming fast and furious and I couldn't keep up.

What I like to do is get the baby a bear ( Every baby needs a bear) and a book (My fav. is Guess How Much I love You) and a blankie..I "wrap" the bear holding the book inside of the blankie. It's cute if nothing else.

LOL! Yeah, I think it did!
Although I really did need gift ideas for my friend.

I like the idea of getting something for her, especially with a third, as she has most everything from before.
