I am sorry to read of his death. I remember as if it were today watching him step from the lunar lander to the surface of the moon and saying, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind"

How sad. I can remember several years, several astronauts were on a talk show discussing their experiences and so many of them couldn't veer from talking about how being in space and looking back at the earth made the feel close to God.

I have several pictures on my classroom wall of famous people from all walks of life and we look at them every year as to how they used math. I was going to start next Monday with Madame Curie, but I think I will change my plans and start with Neil Armstrong.

....And I also remember that there were a bunch of self-appointed prophets who had to tear up their sermons that boldly proclaimed that God WILL NEVER ALLOW man to set foot on the moon!

............Oops! I just remembered!!!

All those so-called moon landings were faked!

Armstrong REALLY landed in the NV desert!!

(Probably not too far from Area 51 so that the black helicopters could quickly wisk him away without any "outsiders" ever noticing.) :tonofbricks:

What a sad day....do you think he could EVER be forgotten?

I am so glad I was able to witness that historic moment when he landed on the moon.

Today, Armstrong Soars Where Eagles Only Dare!

....may God bless the family of this great pioneer. Today, he is free to soar with the angels themselves.

My dad was working at the Cape and we were living in Titusville, FL when this occurred. It was awesome to be so close to history being made.

I do not know if he was a believer, but he was a very humble man.

I, too, am sorry to hear this. Didn't realize he was 82. Lord, teach us to number our days.

I took pictures off the TV of the moon landing. Still have those slides somewhere. Here is one of Worden of the Apollo 15 crew that I took on the "Weightless Wonder."

I just read that when asked his faith, he said that he was a Deist. I don't know how long ago that was.
