new book store??? what would you do??

Ok, just outside of town we have a factory outlet mall. It nearly failed becasue all the stores moved out, some went out of business. A local man, who is on the city counsil bought it and wants to revitalize it and see it full of stores and customers like it used to be.
The problem?
A new book store opened on Tuesday. An adult book store. While the mall is just out of city limits it's just about in our back yard(of the town that is). It was on the news and everyting. At least two stores there have said they were moving. Used to be people came from Bowling Green, Nashville, adn Louisville to shop there. So now whose going to come here to shop.
What would you do?
I and a few friends from church would like to go out there and pray, silently, not speaking to anyone, so as not to be accused of harrassment. I want to call the central management office and complain and let them know I will not shop anywhere out there as long as that store is there.
This is satans trap, he ensnares people with porn, wednesdasy night news shoed the inside of the store, it is full of movies, and books, and God only knows what else.
What would you do?
Now mind you we don't even have legal alchol in our county, no porn in the city limits, even teh truck stop outside city limits off the interstate doesn't sell porn. Our biggest crimes here are drugs and theft. We might have one murder a year, some none, some 2 or 3.

Is that a correct understanding?

It sounds to me like the problem is a little bit on its way to solving itself. You said you have threatened mall management essentially with a boycott of the property. It probably wouldn't hurt to do the same with the stores still operating there. If enough people do likewise and stores start closing up, a smart mall owner ought to realize that an adult bookstore is bad for business.

donnA: I would do exactly what you are proposing to do. If you are civil and congenial in your discussion with the central management office, you will score a direct hit. Politely remind them that Nashville and Bowling Green are relatively close, and they offer numerous shopping alternatives. If the layout of the mall is the stereotypical "indoor experience," then I would seriously doubt that this establishment has the ability to be an anchor tenant.

Isn't there an outlet mall on the site of the old Opryland? That means that you don't have to go all the way into Nashville to shop.

A few years ago in Yuna, AZ many of the Christians were praying for an adult video store to leave. Well it did. A small fire started in the back of the store and it soon turned into a huge flaming fire. Soon the entire store disappeared withour a tace of anything except that the entire store was burned including the roof. What was amazing is that nothing in the store next to it were even touched or affected at all. It is gone! All that we could think of was thatit was God. The fire in the back was so small that it should have easily been put out but it wasn't. There was somebody there as well.

Methinks, (and I do mean ME!) we tend to limit God to either doing the extraordinarly miraculous, or the mundane, but for some reason cannot truly believe that the same God will (or can?) lead you to a parking place AND cure a major illness at the same time.

Yes, I know we INTELLECTUALLY believe He can, but do we equally believe He WILL?

He has done so many small things for me that I kick myself each time when I begin to doubt His mercy & grace. Why can I not have a CONTINUAL trust?? I guess Paul summed it up with " those things I would do-----".

Oh, by the way, He has done some BIGGIES also, but I have no problem trusting Him there; my bug-a-boo is in the small stuff.

As to this topic, I don't know where to classify the adult bookstore, (probably depends on it's proximity to you/me), but the point is, big, small, or in between, He can handle it.

For this I am extremely grateful!!!!!!!

And perhaps your prayer for the mall and store to fail will be answered "No". God may want to allow it to continue for any reason He chooses.

We cannot say God MUST do something or that what our brains say we MUST do is the right course. Yet in this issue, I would join in actively working for it's failure!

I pray before I leave for Douglasville that the traffic will be 'light' so that I am not uncomfortable or unsafe. I pray for the Lord to open up parking spaces for me when I'm out picking up something I need for my work at church and am short on time. I pray for many things and I thank God for tiny blessings!

God is good. God cares about the little things in our lives and the big things in our lives. Just like a Mom or Dad wants to help their children in all ways, so much more does our Heavenly Father.

That hits close to home! Just this morning I awoke with a sore throat (allergies)...so I thought, "God can take away this sore throat, why don't I at least ask?" So I prayed and guess what...almost IMMEDIATELY my throat felt much better!! I've never tried that before...I guess the way I was raised in the Catholic church I just never thought that way.
