I have a question (or questions)thatis more for you to think about than any thing eles.
The new Church Year is almost upon us. In our church September is the start of the new church year. We have many committee members working hard to find someone in the church family that they can ask to volunteer to do one job or another. Are you a committee member requesting that someone take a job such as Sunday School / Bible Study Teacher? Are you the person that is being asked to serve? Have you volunteered to help with Vacation Bible School for this year or next year? Perhaps you have been asked to be on the finincial committee?
If you have accepted a volunteer job, why did you do it? Did you do it just to "fill" a spot that needed a worker? Or did you pray about the decision and accept the position, as a position of service?
Just some things to think about when a committee member aproaches you.

I play drums in our worship services and will continue to do so. We are starting a Sat. night contemporary service - in addition to playing, I will assist with the planning. Immediately following that service, we will have a "coffee shop" set up in the fellowship hall (which I will assist with). After fellowshipping for about 15-20 minutes, we will have a Bible study and I will teach one of the groups. I'm also praying about the possibility of serving on the music committee.

Pardon my denseness, but doesn't the Church Year start with the first Sunday in Advent?

Why do you always feel the need to be so harsh?

I really think Rosa's Question is what are you going to do to help in your local church to win souls as well as being a christian and doing things. What involment will you have helping or working together for sake of bringing others to the Lord...or assisting someone so that they can sing praises or even watch children so a pastor can get the word out or etc.

Why is it alway important to belittle someone? You as a Rev. really have some less than peaceful issues. I really think you should resolve these things so that you can do the things that you have committed yourself to.

Did it really matter what day the new year begins on? Isn't it more important what responsibility will you have to bring others to the Lord and what will you do to help and assist others in the worshiping of God? I thought it was a wonderful question.

So Joshua will your responsibility for a new year be to remind us of what day the new year will be on.

    Bro Joshua,
The new church year starts Sept.1 in our church building. But that really wasn't the point of the question.
I hope that many others understood, like Sherrie did, that the question was to make you think of how you might serve the Lord.
Thank you, Sherrie, for your kind words.
    In Christ's Love
