New Congress - First Item on the Agenda

If I remember correctly, Congress fixed it many years ago so they never had to vote for a raise again. I believe the raises are automatic and as long as they don't go against them they'll just sorta happen.

Avoids the political embarrassment of voting to line your own pockets.

 

There first agenda should be getting our troops out of Iraq!

 

I don't think that will happen, even with the democrats as majority, Terry. The view that there's not much difference between dems and reps is pretty true from where I sit. I don't think a swift return is in the near future. I have friends and relatives there, and I sure don't wish them harm. But even if they were to start talking about it in January, there would be a LONG process to do it.

 

Price of gas went up the day after the election. Pragmatically, that is giving Congress a raise.

 

Gas prices went down around here.
