I found this on the web today.

    ************
Starting Monday, patrons of the Dallas-based Pizza Patrón chain, which
caters heavily to Latinos, will be able to purchase American pizzas
    with Mexican pesos.

    I had heard about that.

It's up to a store-owner what currency - in addition to US dollars - he will accept in the US.

In Ithaca, there is a bartering currency called Ithaca Hours (linkie).

Happens all the the time here - nearly all shops on the border with Northern Ireland accept either pounds or euro, and many larger shops island wide do the same.

I don't understand the fuss. Well, I do, but this really should not be linked to the "illegal immigration" issue.

If I as a business owner want to accept clam shells, that's my business. Dollars are legal tender, and must be accepted. Beyond that, I don't think the guv'ment ought to be telling me the dollar is the only tender I'm allowed to accept.

This is not an "illegal immigration" issue, IMHO.

I'm sure they don't take Mexican money at par. American stores along the Canadian border have always accepted Canadian money just as Canadian stores accept American money
