The shuttle broke up way beyond the range of any terrorist attack - 200,000 feet.

This is a horrible, horrible accident. We all need to pray for the families who have lost their loved ones in this tragedy.

</font>[/QUOTE]i agree the familys need prayer and much grace.
i wasnt saying that a terrorist act took down the shuttle. but i do believe that the politcal climate of those who hate america and isreal are making this a victory.

one possiblity of how the shuttle broke apart was when it took off pictures seem to show that something came apart on lift off. i wonder if they could of aborted the mission because of that debris that fell from lift off?

I don't think they knew about it until they were looking at close-up tape of the launch.

My parents live in East Texas and they were shaken out of bed by the explosion... My father thought someone had driven into the side of their house.

Apparently there is debris still falling and some of it is nearby. They have been told to stay inside for safety and not to touch debris because some of it may be radioactive or extremely hot.

I live in Texas, about three hours drive east of Dallas-Fort Worth, where they seem to think the Columbia exploded. At about 8 a.m. CST, we heard rumbling and our house shook. Others around our area, even further from Dallas than us, reported hearing the explosion.

BB, did the ground shake in Fort Worth? I'm wondering if it is more probable that they came down further east.

I'm at work, and I heard about it an hour ago.

I remember where I was when the Challenger blew up and my first thoughts...

I had the exact same thoughts when I heard about this.

"Though a man gain the whole world and lose his soul, what does it profit him?"

    Let's remember their families.

They say they also felt it in Layfette, LA. They said everything was going good, and It was very calm. They still do not know what happened. Everything on TV is only speculation right now.

I am sure it had nothing to do with terrorist.

Focus on Praying for the family members, and that people are not hurt by the space shuttle parts still coming down.

I was sleeping in and didn't hear or feel anything. On the local television station some residents of Dallas claim they heard a sound like an explosion but no one has of yet said anything about the ground shaking like so many other people have mentioned over in your direction.

NASA will be issuing a statement at 1:00 P.M. EST today.

They have already said that the shuttle is gone as well as all seven crew members.

There were two women aboard; one from WI and one from India.

There were five men aboard: two from WA, one from TX, one from CA, and one from Israel.

The man from Israel was a crew member as part of a program to get more countries involved in our Space Program. They said security was beefed up because of this.

It is sad, very sad. Our prayers should be going out to the familes.

Hate to be seen as a crepe hanger (for those old enough to have seen that in action) but I firmly believe this is "not an accident".

All kinds of threats and negatives from the world of Islam, since the first Israeli astronaut was on board. US military breathed a sigh of relief when the shuttle took off without incident.

    And now?

Will pray for their families. And wait for the grisly details will unfold.

i do believe that would be an almost impossible realistic target for the terrorist to achieve.
but i do believe speculation will go rampant
