Aug. 6, 2005 - As U.S. troops endured a deadly week in Iraq, 61 percent of Americans polled say they disapprove of the way President George W. Bush is handling the war in Iraq, according to a new NEWSWEEK poll. Thirty four percent say they approve. This is Bush’s lowest rating on Iraq and the first time it has dropped below 40 percent in the NEWSWEEK poll

    snip:
Meanwhile, Bush’s approval ratings have dropped to 42 percent; 51 percent of Americans say they disapprove of the way Bush is handling his job as president. Bush’s approval ratings reached a high of 88 percent in his first term, in the month after the September 11 attacks. Forty-two percent is his low.

Not surprising with events in Iraq.

Fortunately for President Bush the numbers don't matter as he will not be up for re-election in 2008.

But with the 2006 Congressional elections upcoming it makes it imperative for GOP election success that most U.S. troops are out of Iraq by November 2006.

To whom should we surrender so that we can get out in order to win the GOP elections, Ken?

No need to surrender. Just finish the constitution and hold the elections later this year and then get the Iraqi security forces up to speed so they can take over from our troops.

I am sure that something along those lines is the plan, but we have not been able or willing to stop people from coming in from Saudia Arabia, Syria, and Iran. Plus we still have the problem of Iran's refusal to stand down on building an atomic bomb. The Joint Chiefs of Staff must be working night and day.

If you have noticed the news, cmg, we are now willing to allow the Iranians to have civilian nuclear power. Hopefully, the Iranian issue will be resolved shortly through diplomacy.

We should pull all US and allied troops out
of Iraq by the end of August. We are in
great danger of winning - our winning
    will really upset
Saudi Arabia, Al Kate-die, and Ol' Ben One
    Kanobia.

Well, we aren't in a position to invade Iran and we and our allies can't bomb Tehran without risking the lives of our 150,000 troops in Iraq(including my grandnephew). So we had best hope that diplomacy works in this case, LE, because there ain't no other way to deal with the situation with Iran, regardless of whether you like it or not.

</font>[/QUOTE]Interesting, talking about giving up on the
BB's Politics Forum's TOKEN REALIST.
    Yep, that is interesting.

P.S. Each bb (bulentin board) needs a token
