The NFL Colts, riding high on the success of Manning, now want to raze a 20-year-old dome costing almost $100 million and construct a $500 million dome for football. More likely it will cost a billion dollars.

However, the economy is bad in Indianapolis with many lost jobs. The city is so broke that it has had to curtail bus service drastically and cannot fund its police officer pensions or give its employees a raise.

However, the talk is not about the war in Iraq or a bankrupt city, but about a Superbowl being held here. So how to pay for this new stadium?

The state cannot help either. It also is a fiscal mess after 16 years of runaway Democrat spending.

So why not ask organized crime to install slot machines downtown, put a tax on them, and build the dome? The Mayor of Indianapolis, Bart Peterson, has long been an advocate of a casino for Indianapolis. We are being told that 16,500 Hoosiers now work in Indiana casinos and gambling joints--don't you feel sorry for them having such awful jobs?

So the NFL will now be built on gambling and slot machines. I knew that the NFL was not going to join the military, but I didn't think that they would go for more gambling in professional sports.
