They say that there is a disconnect between James Franklin (HC) and/or Andy Kotelnicki (OC). Is one or both to blame for Drew Allar's problems? 'They' also say that it appears that Allar is overthinking now and not acting on instinct with the more simplified system. Maybe Allar could be a steel in the draft.

Allar is out for the remainder of the year and Franklin was fired today.

Drew must declare for the draft in 2026. Bad coaching could mean a bargain QB if someone is willing to take a shot on him. 6'5" and a good arm. He's probably going to need to sit and develop for a few years. Sounds like a Steeler to me.

What makes Carnell Tate special? Can he be a true number one at the next level?

Carnell Tate is next in the Ohio State pipeline of secondary wide receivers capable of emerging as a primary target at the NFL level. Tate's height and wingspan offer a quarterback-friendly target. He extends the catch point away from his frame and plucks the ball from the air. Tate is a bouncy athlete who can climb the ladder over defenders at the catch point. He has soft, reliable hands and excellent ball tracking skills. Tate joined Ohio State's program as a 5-star recruit in the 2023 class, per 247Sports. Tate thrives in the WR2 role in the Ohio State Buckeyes' offense. Last season, he caught 52 passes for 733 yards and four touchdowns.....

- Savvy and crafty route-running profile. Tate is nuanced and detailed with his ability to separate from opposing defenders. He is an excellent vertical route salesman by pushing defensive backs with a strong vertical takeoff and stem, giving the illusion he is running a deep route. Versus off-coverage, he stems his routes with intent to manipulate and move the defender off their spot to free him space at the break point. Tate is a long strider, who eats up grass with free releases.

- Body control and ball skills to attack the football in flight. Tate can extend at the catch point with the best of them. He utilizes his whole frame and wingspan to make a play on the football that enters his zip code.

- Toughness as a perimeter blocker. Tate is not afraid to throw his frame into the action and make blocks to spring his teammates. He picks off linebackers and safeties on outside run concepts to seal the edge for the running back.

- Tate has a high football IQ that is displayed with his route running against both man and zone coverages. In addition to his ability to line up at any receiver position. His versatility assists play callers in creating advantageous opportunities and matchups for their quarterback. With Tate's size and skill set, he would be a difficult cover for most nickel defenders to stay in phase with given he'd have a two-way go from the slot position.

Jordyn Tyson doesn't appear to have anything on Carnell Tate, though everyone has him ranked as the best receiver in this class. He may be faster than Carnell, but I'm not seeing it on film. It looks like he's playing against lesser talent than Carnell is, which would put Carnell at the number one spot over Jordyn. There's also this kid from USC named Makai Lemon who is making waves. Mel Kiper has him listed as his #6 prospect in his recent top 24. He's 5'11" and has really good film, but is he a slot receiver? If he is primarily a slot, he won't be first WR off the board, or second for that matter. He reminds me of Luther Burden 111, who went 39th last year to the Bears.

I expect Colbie Young from Georgia to work his way into this pack eventually

On a side note, David Bell, the receiver from Purdue who was drafted by the Browns in the third round pick in 2022 has announced his retirement on Tuesday.

Bell said, "I was blindsided by an off-field injury that was beyond my control, which put my football future in jeopardy.

"After consulting with medical experts and praying, I accept that continuing to play football would literally risk life and limb."

God speed and best wishes.

This may be one of the best linebacker classes that we've seen in a while. Traditionally, when this happens, these linebackers fly off the boards in the early second round and sometimes late first.

Anthony Hill Jr. (Texas), Sonny Styles (Ohio State), Taurean York (Texas A&M), Deontae Lawson (Alabama), Whit Weeks (LSU), and CJ Allen (Georgia)

Who is that running back from Georgia. Fast....

Bill Belichick once said, "I don't know what it is, I just know it when I see it." For what it's worth, I feel that way about Carnell Tate. He has a way of making defenders bits on his hard steps that the good receivers in the NFL have. He doesn't have the speed, yet he has the medicine to fly past defenders until they get turned around, by then there's already a separation created.

I remember Ohio State recruiting Bell and was surprised and disappointed when he chose Purdue, although I didn't blame him considering the competition in our elite receiver room. I hope he finds his niche and, most importantly, follows Jesus.

I thought that Bell would wind up with the Raiders and reunited with his college QB Aidan O'Connell. Maybe they try to capture some of that magic that they had in college. Actually, before this last draft, I wanted the Browns to offer a late round pick to try to get Aiden for that same reason. I thought that Aiden would fit our west coast system better. 24 years old and Bell made about 4 mil over four years, not bad for a guy who barely played. I'm sure he'll survive. ;) Plus, I'll bet the NFL has programs/insurance for careers that end due to injury.

The Raiders apparently use a "modified Erhardt-Perkins offense". What ever that is, it didn't suit Aiden.

This ESPN mock from today has Tate to Cleveland.

Edit to add they have 4 Buckeyes in the first round.

I seen that. I watched some of the Indiana Oregon game. Neither QB was impressive. Both Mendoza and Moore had average days, at best. Makes me wonder if the value would not be in waiting for Drew Allar in the second, or third, if he makes it that far. I doubt it. He's not on anyone's radar right now. Maybe he gets better and has a good combine. How far will Drew fall? I'm thinking third at the most.

I'm watching Georgia and Auburn to see Lew and Chaplin at left tackle (#65). Xavier Chaplin definitely has the length, you can see it. 6'7" 340, and probably at least 34" arm length. Maybe upwards of 35". He may be just bad enough to get him in the second round. Conner Lew had a few hick ups. I hope he's taller than 6'3". That may be a deal breaker for me. I'll need to revisit Slaughter from Florida. I'm pretty sure that he's 6'5". Gunner Stockton (QB for Georgia) throws a pretty pass. A lot like Flacco's passes. Very catchable. Another QB to add to the list?
