Every year I like to make predictions for the upcoming NFL season. Below are my picks for 2005. Sorry for no line breaks in between each division and the playoffs - I couldn't figure out how to get them in there. The number in () is the playoff seeding. For the playoffs, the team in () is the winner.

So how often are you right with this thing?

Hey I like that you gave Detroit a winning record.

Like the NCAA Basketball Bracket, about half way through the season it is crumpled up in the trash can. Last year I picked Indy and Philly in the Super Bowl with Indy winning. As you can see, I am picking Indy again. New England just has to have a bad season in them (at least I hope so). No matter what, it's all AFC again this year.

I'm a Lions fan, too. The 9-7 mark is hopeful but realistic. They should have a decent shot of winning that weak division. Harrington needs to make a believer of me first. We'll see. If he doesn't come through, then they are headed for 6-10.

I agree. Harrington must perform or else. If the Lions don't have a winning season, then Joey is gone. He has been surrounded by talent, he needs to step up and lead.

I love Joe Gibbs, but I think it was a mistake for him to get back into the NFL. 4-12 is not much different that 6-10, which is what they were last year. I hope he can prove me wrong, though.

Probably wishful thinking more than anything else. All good things must come to an end, especially in the parity-driven NFL, and I think this is it for the Pats. The Pats are a team that is driven off of chemistry, and I think losing their two coordinators and Teddy Bruschi (and the other guy who retired on defense) will be too much for them to duplicate their prior success. Plus, they have a really tough schedule.

Having said that, I won't be surprised if they make the playoffs again. My 10-6 prediction for the Jets is shaky - I almost had them going 9-7. The Bills can certainly be better than 8-8. The Dolphins should improve, though not a contender. That division is up for grabs.

If the Pats should somehow win the Super Bowl again this year, Bill Bellichek will probably deserve the title of "greatest coach of all time."

It wouldnt surprise me to see the Pats win again, but I think that the loss of 2 coordinators is going to hurt them more than some think.

I would sure love to see Indy get over the hump this year.

Peyton is a dome QB, He needs to learn to play better outdoors especially in inclement weather, if they wish to get through the playoffs.

Don't get me wrong though- I like the guy a lot. It is amazing to see him run that Indy offense.

    This is Indy's year, because:

    (A) They will get the no. 1 seed in the AFC and have home-field advantage.
    (B) The Super Bowl is in Detroit, a dome stadium.

You don't think the Pats ill be the no. 1 seed in the AFC?

If they are then Indy will have to play outside again, and they won't even make it to Detroit.

I think the best the Pats will do is 11-5 - not enough to get a no. 1 seed over Indy.

Last year was Gibbs first year back in the NFL, alot has changed since he left back in the early 90's. Last year 6-10 was to be expected, this year I think we will see a new Redskins team. Bringing Gibbs back to the NFL was not a mistake, it was the best thing the Skins owner has done since buying the team, the fans were ready to chase him out of D.C. before he brought Gibbs back!

I agree with JGrubbs here. I want to see what Gibbs does this year with his team. You cannot judge him based on his first season alone. His record and championships demand that we give him some time.
