NHL HOCKEY

What is hockey?? Is that some sports they play up north?? I have tried to watch some NHL games in the past but it isn't that exciting when you don't know the rules, kind of like soccer. It usually looks like boxing on ice skates, only with sticks, from the ESPN highlights.

 

I watch NHL Hockey, but only after the playoffs come around. The season is a complete bore. The same is true of The NBA in my mind.

 

I'd like to reply to Rod's up north statement. Hockey, what's hockey? LOL Actually I've been to one game (minor league) this year. On TV it is way boring.

 

Pastor, you are so right, the NBA is major boring!

 

Hockey is still the most primitive competition around. If you don't like the fights, well I understand your aversion to the sport, but hockey players police themselves, and anyone who ever played will tell you that Wayne Gretzky would have been crippled in his first game without the protection of the big, defensive enforcers.

I love it, but it is a hurtin'. I think if we eliminated the red line, and maybe shortened most rinks by a foot on each side, the game would be quicker, and more points would be scored. And THAT'S where I think the propblem is. Like soccer, no american wants to watch a game for 2 hours that ends 1 to nothing. Or even worse, a tie.

My favorite sport is hockey. I went to two Dallas Stars games in their first year after moving from Minnesota, the second of which was on my honeymoon.

I am also a huge Dallas Stars Fan, but I think hockey has big problems.

I would do away with the penalty for the 2 line pass to help open the game up - I would also eliminate the penalty for icing.

I would add more ice behind the goalie - olympic style

further restrict the size of the goalies pads

stop all the clutching and grabbing and let the skaters skate!

If hockey were to do the above it would make the game a much faster game, with much more scoring. Players like Mike Modano would really shine

 

I like those ideas.

They did move the goals out some a few years ago to make it harder for the goalies to cut off the puck behind the net.

But I would keep the icing rule as winning a draw in a team's offensive zone increases scoring. In fact, I would like to see icing kept in force during power plays as that would lead to more scoring on power plays.

 

I would also eliminate the confederate flags, no wait thats NASCAR - ah forget I brought that one up

 

I LOVE Hockey, and follow the team that loves to tie, the LA Kings! Hockey is SO much more interesting than basketball...

 

Get a Dallas game every once and a while, but only really watch if Gary Thorne is calling the game for ESPN. I could listen to that guy read the dictionary. Nothing really to watch until the playoffs, since just about everyone gets in there are not any ties. Love overtime playoff hockey

 

I'm a die-hard Oilers fan. I enjoyed watching them beat the Hawks tonight (5-2). This season, however, they're still struggling for a play-off spot.

I was in Columbus, OH last week, and was given tickets to the Blue Jackets / Kings game on Wednesday night (five rows up from the glass - behind the goal). I am sure that you did not like the outcome; however, that was a fantastic game. The next morning, the winning goal was number one on the ESPN Top Ten.

As I lived in Tampa for many years, I am still a HUGE Lightning fan. Unfortunately, they waited until I moved to become a good team........
