I can't believe no one here is taking much of an interest in the NHL playoffs. Tonight the small town Calgary Flames just knocked out the San Jose Sharks 3-1, taking the series 4-2. They have previuosly defeated Vancouver and Detroit, a team that has more than twice their budget.
Now they await the outcome of Philadelphia and Tampa Bay, to see who they will play in the Stanley Cup finals.
Sorry Bob, your beloved Colorado Av's dropped out long ago.

Sorry, it is hard to keep up with a sport that isn't played locally. I think there are some semi-pro teams in Little Rock and Tulsa, but St. Louis is probably the closest NHL team to here and that is a pretty long drive. I couldn't even tell you who is in the playoffs.

I write this with a heavy heart [IMG] as Los Tiburones de San Jose got trampled by the stampeding Flames of Calgary. But this is the Bay Area and the SF Symphony is having a good season from what I understand. [IMG]

I was born and raised in Philly and the Philly area. I recently moved to the Tampa Bay area about one year ago. But my heart is still with the Philly teams. Lets go FLYERS! [IMG]

Tampa it is. The Flyers have flown home. The Calgary Flames, renamed now (only by the media) as the Canadian Flames, will meet the Lightning on Tuesday night in the first of seven in the hunt for Lord Stanley's Cup.

Can't get too much further apart in nation, climate, payroll and fan base than in this Stanley Cup.

Still can't see hockey in Florida. It seems to be logical in the "northern" mindset.

Right down to the seventh game of the series, Tampa finally beat out the Flames to take the Stanley Cup. And yet Calgary fans still cheer for the great journey they had all during the playoffs.

Calgary got robbed, IMO. On Saturday, tied at 2-2, a Calgary shot clearly crossed the line but they didn't count it. The replay official said there was no conclusive replay evidence. It looked pretty conclusive on ESPN. And in the NHL, they have replay. The ESPN SC announcer said that the replay official said there was no conclusive evidence while showing the frozen frame of the puck completely across the line just bouncing off the skate of the goalie. I guess they can't publicly say it was a blown call, but it sure looked conclusive. That series should have been over on Saturday night in regulation.
