Just goes and shows you how the Big 10 is way overrated, LOL!

 

There is no justice in the world if next week Michigan even receives one vote in the AP poll.

I'm sure they'll probably find a way to be ranked, though.

Carr needs to be fired tomorrow.

The Big 10 (11) got exposed last year, and this is the nail in the coffin.

 

I disagree about the time managment argument. Appy State fumbles, and the critics howl about how they should've taken the win. I would've run one play - had the QB kneel toward the center of the field and then send my kicker out, but that's easy for me to say.

 

Is Michigan the team that was ranked number five, then dropped out of the top 25?

Of course, it does make the Big 10 look weak.

I look for Wisconsin to take it this year.

 

Basketball is not football. I didn't say anything about the NBA because I don't follow it!

Michigan is a different bird, though. Their performance in the Big Ten (11) last year combined with a poor OOC performance this year raises questions. They haven't been answered yet. If Michigan flops in-conference this year, then no harm, no foul, but if they somehow do well, then the whole conference picture will be questioned.

Like it or not, OOC performance does affect the perception of the conference as a whole.

 

This is one of the biggest bromides in sports, created by the "legions of the miserable" on sports talk radio. No coach has ever devised a plan "not to lose." You execute the game plan that you believe will get you the win. If that means "conservative" play calling, so be it. Last night's So Miss vs Tenn game is a good example. Down a TD early in the 4th quarter, USM coach Bauer tries an onside kick. Ball goes out of bounds at his 40. Tenn marches 40 yards for a score to put the game out of reach. A risky call that didn't pay off. If he'd kicked it deep, is that playing "not to lose"? It's just a two-edged bromide...er, sword :laugh:

Blocks are not gimmies and the FG wasn't easy. Appy State made the play. Appy State was the better team that day. And Oregon was the much better team yesterday. I just wonder about next week with Henne out. I wanted to see the Pitiful Bowl with a healthy UM against thug Notre Dame.

And Michigan got beat by a team outside their conference and classification. The Mavs got beat by a team inside their conference. Apples and oranges. But, just because Michigan is pathetic doesn't mean that the whole Big Ten is pathetic.

 

I think that the best game yesterday was Fresno State vs. Texas A&M. Down 19-0 at halftime Fresno State came back and it went into overtime tied at 29. It must have taken an hour to play three overtimes due to a play review that must have taken 20 minutes to resolve. Texas A&M won when it stopped Fresno State's 2 point conversion, 47-45.
