If you have your final Discharge -
How do you refer to your self?

    Are you a Civilian again - ?

    Just a Vet?

Or do you refer to you self as a Marine, Sailor, Airman, or Solider?

    or are we a former M,S, A, S????

I served in the Army as a Specialist, have my final discharge, and my Driver's License says "Veteran."

However, I feel a little pretentious using that term because some might equate my service with those who saw combat or suffered injury in the line of duty.

Van - I spent over a dozen years on AD, w/o 1 day in a combat zone
I ran for State Assy. My opponent said he did not consider himself
because he was only a JAG and in the Reserves
I told him he wore the uniform proudly.

Van, all three of us are Veterans - we all did our job!

I retired as a SFC after 23 years.
I refer to myself as "me".
    I'm a civilian again.

Shortly after I returned to civilian life, while at work, I came around a corner and was suddenly confronted with the head honcho and I very nearly saluted. :)
