No man can say that jesus is lord

1 Corinthians 12:3
Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can SAY that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

No one can say the phrase unless under the direction/inspiration/permission of the Holy Spirit. The text does not limit or infer the "saying" to a man who properly understands what he is saying. If a Mormon says the phrase it is by the direction of the Holy Spirit. A devil may know that Jesus is Lord but this passage infers he can not SAY it out loud.

Pay a drunk $5 or promise to give a druggy a snort of cocain and they can say "jesus is Lord."

Hence, if your interpretation is valid, then forget preaching the gospel and just encourage or pay people to merely say "Jesus is Lord" and they have the Spirit of God don't they?

Hence, your interpretation would make God the author of confusion and the Bible uninspired and therefore no real existence of any true God at all.

Your building your theory on MORE silence than the interpretation that "say" represents leadership by the Spirit. I say MORE silence because your interpretion contradicts all of scriptues.

However, in verse 2 Paul states that previously they had be under the leadership of demons.

Verse 3 introduces the contrast "speaking BY the Spirit of God" thus UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF GOD'S SPIRIT no man can say Jesus is accursed or say Jesus is Lord.

Lost people are not UNDER THE LEADERSHIP of the Spirit of God but are UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF demons as in verse 2

It is clear that Paul is contrasting the saved and the lost in the two positions he represents.

We also know via Matthew 7:21-22 that simply calling Christ "Lord" is not salvific in itself. Scripture interprets Scripture.
