It seems to me that many reject Calvinism because they are non-conformists. They believe Calvinism is equal to saying 'I am of Paul, I am of Apollos.' Comments made by non-conformists:

    "I am neither."

    "I am a Biblicist."

    "I'm in the middle."

That really SOUNDS good, but the core of the matter is this: Can you REALLY hold a position other than Calvinism or Arminianism when it comes to any of the five points? What is the third option in each of these cases?

#1- Total Inability is true or untrue.
#2- Unconditional Election is true or untrue.
#3- Limited Atonement is true or untrue.
#4- Irresistable Grace is true or untrue.
#5- Perseverance of the Saints is true or untrue.

Is there a third option? If there isn't- stop playing non-conformist games. We all claim to be 'Biblicists' or 'Christians' but when it comes to this, which side of the pendulum do you swing? If you're honest with yourself you may just grow a little.

If there is a third option, I'd like to know what it is! [IMG]

Thanks for pointing out the error in my statement. My statement should have said, "I conform to the doctrines of no man!"

Jesus is God the Son, THE CHRIST for which Christianity is named, It is his doctrine alone that I am willing to conform myself to! It is to him, that I submit my soul, and spirit.

They have injected their own interpretations and meanings into the clear message that God the Son gave us through his Apostles.

    </font>[/QUOTE]Hey monergist.

Don't get me wrong- I don't think it's right to conform to man-made doctrine. It is simply a fallacy to think you are a 'non-conformist' for we all conform to something (even to non-conformism!). The statement, then, should not be 'I am a non-conformist' but that 'I conform to Godly principles and doctrine as laid out in scripture.' If said doctrine lines up with puritanical or reformation doctrine, so be it. My point is that I will not shy away from truth because I am scared of labels as so many Arminians do.
