Not all NOBTS grads are...

Hi. I have been reading posts for 2 days now, and I just felt the need to say that the majority of NOBTS students/faculty/alumni are very conservative theologically. I have been very surprised at some things I have seen here and just wanted to make the record straight in a nice way. [IMG]

TT, I didn't know anyone claimed that NOBTS was liberal. My understanding was that the fundamentalists didn't even need to take it over, just nudge it a tad to the right.

Well, I had seen posts from one claiming to be a graduate of NOBTS, when actually he graduated from the (undergraduate) college located on NOBTS campus. It does, however, irritate me that someone with such strong views against what the seminary teaches will go there and allow the school and churches supporting it to defray the cost of his eduaction, only to embarrass it later. Thank you, though, for your comments, and I have enjoyed reading your posts in other fora.

I love NOBTS, and I aprpeciate the quality education I got here. Because I disagree with some of the things they believe does not mean I am not respectful or appreciative. All of my professors were very godly men and women, and I respect them very much. I do not mean to disrespect anyone or represent anyone other than myself with my posts.

Most schools have SOME alumni of which they are not proud (and hope the public will not find out where they went to school). Sure New Orleans is the same.

I for one am glad for the continual right-of-center shift paradigm within the SBC-endorsed seminaries. Have a couple of former students at Louisville and they are THRILLED.

Not ALL the bad stuff the ifb'ers have been spreading, they find, is based in reality!

It seems that very little of the stuff that IFBers are spreading is based in reality :D

Well, TaterTot, I graduated from the undergraduate school at NOBTS and I didn't come out a liberal. In fact, at the time I was in that school, most of the teachers were also teachers in the graduate level seminary. I'm now in the "real" seminary at NOBTS and I find the teaching consistent with that of the "wanna be" undergraduate school, very conservative. In fact I found the undergraduate classes much more interesting, as most of the students there were older students, who had real world experience in both secular and ministry work.

Please dont get me wrong, I dont see anything wrong with the undergrad program, I think its wonderful! I loved my days at NOBTS - hubby is still there in PhD program, and some of my best friends were/are undergrads. Maybe you missed some posts from several weeks back that the original thread addressed.
    Blessings,
    TaterTot
