also some reference was made to clinton to become an evangelist >>>Graham called the Clintons ''wonderful friends'' and ''a great couple,'' quipping that the former president should become an evangelist and allow ''his wife to run the country.''

Sounds like someone is dazzled again by the bright lights of the media.

    Massdak -

Interesting comment. William Jefferson Clinton proclaimed himself to be a Christian and a Southern Baptist.

Are you suggesting Dr. Graham needs to get rid of all those Baptist friends? Or just the ones you personally don't approve of?

Probably---P-R-O-B-A-B-L-Y---in all likelyhood---Graham said that in what is called "Jest"----kinda sorta like when President Reagan when he said----in front of the camera---for all the world to hear---"OK!! We bomb Moscow in five minutes!!!!" Talk about an "itchy" trigger finger---if I were Prime Minister Gorby---I would have come close to "drawin'"----if you know what I mean!!!

    did you see the video?
graham is clear that he is suggesting the pope as a Christian example. and it is clear the the pope is ascribing a differnt gospel.

Yes, I watched the video. It is clear Billy Graham considered the Pope to be a Christian. I see now that you do not believe the Pope was a Christian, thus your comments.

I would not go so far as to say the Pope, or any Catholic, are not Christians. The reason is that they do have the gospel, and where the gospel is, salvation is possible.

I do believe the Catholic church has added a lot of things to the gospel that shouldn't be there. Whether that fundamentally changes the gospel to where salvation is not possible, I don't think so.

We are all saved in spite of our circumstances. Those that are saved are saved because God draws them by the Holy Spirit, convicts them of the truth of the gospel and of their sin, regenerates them, gives them faith, sanctifies and keeps them for the day of His return.

The gospel is the power of salvation for those who believe. I have faith the gospel can do what God says it can do. Catholics do have the gospel. I hope to see the Pope and Billy Graham in heaven, but (as a great evangelist once said) I doubt I will be close enough to the throne to be in their company.

you give credit to man for being religious and it is not likely billy graham is abiding in the doctrine of Christ which means if he doesnt believe on the Christ of the Bible he will not be in heaven

I give credit to God for saving any that are saved, despite our lack of understanding. You seemed to think all that are saved must have a perfect understanding of the gospel and all the doctrines of Christ. Is that what you believe?

In the video you linked to, Graham clearly presents Christ crucified as an atonement for sins. He comes across as a man humbled by what God has done in his life. How can you possibly say that is not abiding in the doctrine of Christ, or that he doesn't believe on the Christ of the bible? Because he thinks the Pope is a Christian?

unless you believe that the acceptance in other means of salvation which the catholic church has added to be the same doctrine of Christ, then our disagreement cannot be solved.

2Jo 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

my main contention is how billy graham has endorsed the other means of salvation that the catholic church has laid out.

but i dont like how he has made such an outlandish comment even in jest about the clintons

Massdak----I remember reading of Jesse Owens' comments when he won the Gold at the 1936 Olympics hosted in Berlin!!!

He made mention that Hitler waved in his(Jesse's) general direction!!! The press reported that Hitler was probably "agass" when a black American actually won over his brilliant Arian raced runners!!!!

    Actually,

Graham has stated, repeatedly, as late as Friday, June 26, 2005, that salvation comes through Jesus Christ, and that Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father.

    That is not false doctorine.

To those who are "bashing" Billy.

How many lost did you share the gospel of Christ with this week?

How many public board posts did you post the steps of salvation on? From beginning to end, the all have sinned, to Christ being the only way?

How many public posts did you made condemning Billy Graham?

Where do you really think your priorities appear to be?

Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets. Luke 6:26

Graham seems to have avoided all controversy during his career as an evangelist. Compare his vocation to that of the Apostle Paul. C'mon. You cant go through life as a Christian in his position and not ever have an ill word said about you from the secular media, can you? He seems to never have anything to say about things like homosexuality, abortion, false religions. I thank God the Reformers were made of sterner stuff.

In fact, I can remember times when Graham was blasted and blasted strongly by the press for standing up for Christian values. In fact, despite calling Clinton a friend, Graham made quite a scene when he told Clinton that Clinton's position on abortin was wrong.
