Notebook for Small Business

Most any laptop would do, but I'd suggest a pentium four or AMD athlon type rather than the celeron units that are around. My celeron is a tad on the slow side at times.

Dell has some pretty good prices from time to time.

There are also a lot of refurbished units around that might fill the bill. http://www.tigerdirect.com has some now and then.

 

OK, don't laugh, but check WallyWorld. Their lasest ad had a HP notebook with a 1.3 GHz processor. Don't recall the price, however.

You can also check out RETROBOX.COM. They resell used business computers and equipment. Although any laptop or desktop comes without an OS, they usually have decent laptops available.

Very good features for the price.

Also very compact if you are going to be carrying it around. You can get them with built in wireless. Mine does not have that, I use a pcmcia wireless nic

I don't know what OS you want to use, but Some guys at work have Toshiba notebooks, those are very good also. They integrate well with Linux and Solaris.

 

Ok... I know that these aren't for every one but check out the iBook from Apple..that is what I use in a corporate environment and I love it.
You will want to make sure there is no software that you need that isn't on it but I am sure that you can find everything you need. Mac OS X is virtually virus free, much more secure against hackers and has no spyware, also easier to use.
Wireless is standard out of the box on these models. if you want I can get you in touch with a rep from Apple.

Note that the iBook isn't really tageted at the busness market but it is much less expensive than the pro model, the PowerBook. THe iBook has more than enough power for anything you have mentioned.

Dell advertized a laptop for 599 with free shipping on television

 

Watch for the "super Deals" that Dell puts on TV...not that it is such a bad PC, it is just that you don't always get all that you need. they often go really low on the memory on those models.

I use a couple of Delll laptops at work and they are ok...it will get the job done but they don't have the same fit and finish as an HP or a Sony. Of course nothig comes close to an Apple (like the one I am writing this on) :-D
