I am not a fan of Joseph Farah. Also, I believe the racism charge being leveled at the Tea Party is a flawed attempt to discredit the party. Of course the Tea Party like any group has a mix of people. However the organization is not racist. Having said that, I don't believe Christians should be involved in the Tea Party since it violates Biblical rules about Christian behavior towards leaders (1Tim. 2:1-6, Titus 3:1-7, etc). As Christians we should be "reviled for the Name of Christ" and not for any worldly political movement (1Pet. 4:14, etc). Too many Christians have fallen into sin because of politics. Certainly Presidents Bush and Obama have failed to be good Presidents and leaders. However neither man should be maligned by any professing Christian. Yet, sadly, I hear professing Christians doing that on a regular basis.
So, following the logic of your premis...... Christians shouldn't run for office, shouldn't voice any opinion for those who do..... shouldn't support a party.... and should remove themselves from any movement that has anything to do with principals of constitutionallly based government and law, riscal responsibility, and free markets..... and who challenge the accountability of those in office and those running on these principles and informing each other and the public?
Evidently you hold to the belief that our form of government is entirely based on the efforts of man over the last 300 years..... and God's plan is a mere conicidental mirage .......to the Christian community?
As there is only one good..... and that is God..... that means even our form of government is totally bad.... is that it?
Who gave us 'authority' to answer to in the first place? If you answer 'God'..... then, did he keep it all to himself.... or did he ordain levels of authority delegated to others as people multiplied... from a couple to a home, to a family of generations, to tribes, to communities of mixed kinship and inclusions of outsiders.... to nations?
Careful........subscribing to your vacant philosophy..... government is totaltarian.... and we have just one position and that is be quiet, follow the law.... and totally submit? To whom submit? To God or to man? How can one be a friend to the evils in man's government ........and not be at emnity to God?
In their Christian walk.... and the evidence of the power of God in their lives...... the early Christians were often at odds with the government that was over them. Why? Because even the morality and law and their message.... and their allegiance to Christ and the gospel was a testimony and contrast in conflict with the corruption of law and justice in their day. What the law limited..... their liberty in Christ permitted. And, yes, they were persecuted. Is this what you're afraid of? Well, God has put us in a land where it is lawful to dissent..... and who has more right to dissent than a Christian when his conscience is offended and his soul is vexed by the immorality permitted and sanctioned by law or in the lives of its leaders. Would you have the same judgement for Jesus who called Herrod a fox, or John the immerser.... who rebuked the incest and fornication?
