that's because "they" are dead set on proving that those who adhere to the Doctrine of Grace a.k.a. (erroneously) Calvinism are (1) dumb, (2) idolaters (idolizing Calvin), (3) false prophets, and everything else but "true" Christians (whatever that means...........to "them") while at the same time pretending to be gracious.
oh, my, I just realized THIS is another bomb.

and the bomb sniffers on the board have their own 'dogs' in the fight as well.

Focusing on issues that divide biblicists, Christian Smith in his book, The Bible Make Impossible wrote:

How do you respond to this?

I go to a church that teaches what I believe to be the truth. I do not pollute the stream by exposing my family to different theological positions & I teach my own my faith & practices. However, I also teach them to have respect for the other guys faith & let him be on his or her way to their own church. After all, if your practicing some faith then you are mostly building some moral platform (for the most part).

    More from Smith's book:

“Those who fail to see this multivocality and polysemy of scripture—who instead insist on the combination of perspicuity and internal consistency—can do so only by forgetting that they interpret the Bible from within a well-developed community of interpretation relying on particular (though, to them, invisible) hermeneutical tools and paradigms that many other Biblicists do not share.” [p. 48]

    Responses to interpretive pluralism:

    1. Blame-the-deficient-readers-answer, “We are right and the rest, unfortunately, are wrong.”

    2. Lost-original-autographs explanation, the process of coping and translating of the original documents makes it more difficult for subsequent readers to grasp their true single coherent teaching; none of these interpretive problems would have existed in the original autographs.

    3. Noetically-damaged-reader reply, humans have suffered such profoundly damaging “noetic” effects of sin—that is the corruption of their capacities for inner thought and knowledge—that they simply cannot see the single truth.

    4. Inclusive-higher-synthesis response, Bible is so complex and multidimensional that it actually encompasses and is reflected in all the divergent and seemingly incompatible views.

    5. Supernatural-confusion explanation, Satan has gained such a powerful hold in the lives of so many Christians that he enjoys diabolical powers to cause them to misread the Bible and believe in errors.

    6. Purposefully-ambiguous-revelation thesis, God has intentionally provided an ambiguous scripture that would purposively cause disagreement and division in order to achieve some greater good.

    [pp. 37-39]

Oh boo hoo hoo! The poor little redneck Calvinist's feelings are hurt.

You guys can dish it out, but you can't take it yourselves. You can call folks Pelagians, or heretics, or question their salvation (Iconoclast does this CONSTANTLY), but if someone gets tough with you, you cry like the little babies you really are. You guys gang up on people like you did with Skandelon about a month ago, or Thisnumbersdisconnected this past week, but if one person fights back and treats you the way you treat others you have a heart attack and beg the moderators to help you! Boo hoo hoo!

Calvinists are famous for being arrogant and treating others with disrespect, but you want people to be all nice and sweet to you. Tough.

I stand by everything I said. If anyone sneaks into a church and lies to get hired with the intent of changing that church's traditional beliefs, that person is a slime-ball and a snake. And that is being kind.

IF yoyu would check all past threads regarding areas where cal and arms disagree, while there are some who handle themselves in Spriit of grace, there would seem to many more arms/non cals that like to label us as being ignorant/teaching heresy etc!

Oh that was you & that was the context of the conversation!?! Well I called the guy a snake too. However you derive perverse delight in slandering all Calvinists if I got the jist of the commentary there. Here is the difference, Ive never ever reached to intentionally insult anybody in the other camp. That would be shameful. I hope your not going there.

I have been insulted by Calvinists since I came to BB nearly 5 years ago, I am not complaining. I can take it, and I can dish it out.

The cockroach thing was really a joke, KYredneck gave me a wide-open 3 point shot, I just had to take it.

    http://www.baptistboard.com/showpost.php?p=2070289&postcount=22

I can't pass up easy shots like this. KY made it easy.

Just remember, you must be smart to be a smarta$$, otherwise you are just an a$$. If you are gonna trade insults with me, you better be good.

As far as idolatry, I did say that Calvinists will choose their system over scripture every time and I stand by that. You can show any Calvinist multiple verses that refutes their doctrine in many areas, and they will either ignore that scripture, or wrest it to fit Calvinism. It is so obvious that even Calvinists must truly admit this. That is making your theology an idol, you are placing it over the word of God. I stand by this statement.

I think this speaks volumes. Instead of discussions these issues turn into a contest of who is the best insulter.

    Well it isn't you.

But don't pretend to be innocent, you get your little jabs in too. And when someone really gets your goat, you just close the thread.

absolutely right...and you know what. I think he wins the award!

    This was particularly insulting:

As far as idolatry, I did say that Calvinists will choose their system over scripture every time and I stand by that.

That one gets my vote. So C4K, may I ask, "is that the type of commentary thats tolerated around here these days? For God's sake, I sincerely hope & pray not.

    I didn't see you complain when a Calvinist started a thread on this very view;
