You are correct. A very interesting article. It certainly brings home how public our 'public servant' lives are. Verbal errors cost a senator his seat and set a 2004 candidate in the corner. On such depends our future.

Who will be willing to subject their lives, and their family, to "hate-storms" from both the right and the left? The Clinton and Bush families have certainly experienced such storms.

The chance to have the power of the presidency will not discourage many from running right now. The media is getting more and more vitriolic and predatory when it comes to candidates' families. While Chelsea Clinton was left alone by all but the tabloids, the Bush girls have not been off limits as the president hoped. I suspect this will grow worse and in a presidential election or two, it will discourage some publicly from running.

There will be no real race in 08. Hillary Clinton will run for president with Barak Obama as VP running mate and they will win.

I am guessing you are referring to Rush Limbaugh when you speak of the tabloids?

Looks to me like the press is trying to make the new instead of reporting the news. Just as so many last minute things happened to the Rep this year that impacted the vote we will have to see how things go over the first 18 months or so before we can predict the 08 race. We sometimes go against the trend.

No. I was referring to the actual tabloids. Didn't they run stories on her? Seems like I remember seeing her on their covers as I would check out at Wal-Mart or wherever.

I don't really listen to Rush, so I don't know what he did regarding her.

The Clintons tried very hard to keep their daughter out of the spotlight, and the press generally cooperated. The Bush girls are older, and took an active part in campaigning and so were more in the public eye. I suspect if Chelsea had behaved like the Bush children have, she'd have been in the papers a lot, too.

I remember when he had his tv show that he put a picture of her and a dog side by side. Said it was a joke. It was in bad taste.

I disagree - Hillary is too polarizing. She may run, but she will lose.

Plus you have to consider the life style of the Bush girls. I mean they got it honestly since Bush had a lively past but they are more public as obbosed to the Clintons child. I know the Bush girls must have secret service protection so they don't get kidnapped etc...

How do they party like they do with those guys around? You think they party with them?

All she has to do is turn one red state blue and she is in. She will do that easily and then some.

But that is easier said than done. Don't you remember what Falwell said back on September 22nd?

Fallwell is an idiot and a heretic. I don't typically listen to what he says.

You haven't been doing too well in the prediction department lately. You missed badly on the makeup of Congress.

Aren't your predictions more of a defense mechanism to keep from being disappointed if you don't get what you truly want?

Yes, you are correct - I was not very prescient, and I am still ecstatic about that fact!

Yeah, that's right. You really nailed me with that one, carpro.

BIR, I wonder if it is possible for either of these gentlemen to make a comment that doesn't include either an overt or hidden insult? I

You're asking the wrong guy, Terry.

BiR practically chases me around the board looking for opportunities to insult me or ask meaningless and inane questions. It never has any impact, but bless his heart, he keeps trying.:BangHead:
