Now when Jesus was risen.....

    Watch the comma, please ----

    Mark 16:9 says, "Now when Jesus was risen, early the first day of the week He appeared first to Mary Magdalene......"

    OR -- "Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene......"

    Is Mark trying to tell us that Jesus was resurrected on Sunday, or that Sunday was the first time He appeared to Mary Magdalene?

    Afterall, there were no eye-witnesses to the resurrection.

    I'm sorry, but in this particular case, I don't see that the comma makes a difference.

    "...and besides all this, today is the third day since these things were done" (Lk. 24:21). "These things were done" included the sealing of the sepulchre and setting a watch at the tomb -- ordered by Pilate, a day after the crucifixion (Matt. 27: 62-66).
    Sunday was the third day from Thursday, making a late Wednesday crucifixion possible.
