What is the ratio of those in regular attendance vs the number of people on the roster at your church's regular worhsip service(s)?

Note: A Sunday evening service where any people from the other "regular" services are likely to attend does not count for the sake of this poll.

I have nothing against this thread, but it doesn't belong in the history forum.

    [IMG] Sorry!
I didn't know where to put it, and since it was an outgrowth of a post I made to the "Largest Baptist Church" thread, I just put it in the same forum.

The church I attend has more attenders than members. That is not uncommon among churches which are growing and doing evangelism.

I suppose a more accurate question would have been members in attendance vs members on roster because I went to a church in the past that had tons of visitors each week because of the "big name" pastor, oh well.

A church which can only muster 25-30% of its members on any given Sunday needs to re-examine its presentation of the gospel, and the way it receives members. Somebody baptized the other 75% which never attend, and give no evidence of a transformed life.

I've got a problem with that poll.
Just like gb93433 my church has more 'visitors' than members.
Because of tithing requirements, people who stop attending usually actively work to get their names removed from the membership roster.
Children of members regularly attend but aren't members themselves.

Mioque, will you give more details about your congregation? Explain further the tithing requirements and any other obligations which go with membership. Compare it with American churches, please. What's different?

    Thanks,

    Tom B.

Found i couldn't answer the question as posed, so following the criteria set down by our politicians, I'll answer the question as i think it should be posed.

Of our actual membership we would have around 70% - 80% at Sunday morning worship, Age, Illness, holidays and shift work would be the main reasons the others aren't there.

The members comprise around 50% - 60% of the congregation (not counting small children)on a typical Sunday Morning.

Our Membership roll is kept up to date, and reviewed by the church officers at least once each year, so the number of 'inactive' members is very small.

    Regards
    Bob

Better yet, take a serious lok at whose being discipled. About 95% of those being discipled will be in attendance each week.

    "What's different?"
    "
First of all. What we do is not typical of the way churches do things overhere. Don't draw any general conclusions out of the following.

When it comes to tithing, my church operates as a private club.
A full (baptized) member of my church, has to pay dues.
This is a % of one's monthly income and is automatically withdrawn of that member's bankaccount.
All of that money is funneled back into nice things the church does for its members and their dependents.
Few people around these parts are willing to pay a significant ammount of money to a group and not enjoy the benefits.

Mioque, thanks. Americans are always intrigued, sometimes shocked that Baptists in other countries do things differently. I remember a missionary to a South American country told that the members' names are on a wall, and the amounts they give are filled in each week. Everybody knows what everybody else gives.
In Romania, when they were under communism, when someone came to them and wanted to confess Christ, they tried to talk him out of it! They always gave the downside of being a Christian (they called them Repenters) in a communist country. Death, prison, beatings, loss of job, loss of family, etc. In the face of that, if one still wanted to confess Christ, they figured he really was saved.

    Thanks for the update
