Reuters is reporting that the 9/11 Museum in New York will include pictures of the 19 men who perpetrated the act of terrorism, along with their quotes from their diaries in order to give a full perspective of the events of that day. What is your feeling on this?

More liberal idiocy in the name of being politically correct.

It turns it into a shrine for the terrorists and their "cause".

I'd rather see the sight plowed under with a rodeo arena built over it.

Here is my take, and I can certainly understand the views of others. If this were a memorial only, then the terrorists should not be included. However, if it is a museum, then sadly, they should be there. A museum gives a complete record of events.

I have been to the Sixth Floor Museum in the old Texas School Book Depository in Dallas, and it has the sniper's perch, pictures of Lee Harvey Oswald, and other details of that day. I view this much the same. Future generations should know what happened and as much as we know about the evil men who acted that horrible day.

Objective history requires looking at all the information available. Including information from the hijackers is consistent with that. So long as the information does not glorify the hijackers, there should be no objection. According to the story, the material will not be presented in any manner that could be used to praise the hijackers, and the museum's director intends to make sure that no one can get a sense of heroism on a part of the attackers.

In that context, the plan for the museum as it currently stands appears reasonable.

Karl Rove couldn't have been more correct when he said:

"Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 in the attacks and prepared for war; liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers."

Liberals are still advocating "understanding" of the motivations of the murderers.

I saw no information in the Texas Schoolbook Depository Museum that tried to help us "understand" why Oswald shot Kennedy.

My sentiments exactly. I could not have said it nearly as well as Carl Rove, in my opinion a great American.

carpro, I would suggest to you that this is not something seen through a lens of conservative and liberal polarity. Rather, as George Santayana said, those who do not remember history are doomed to repeat it. Understanding is not glorification. I believe the story is not complete without the information. People in the future would walk away wondering, "Who did this, and why?"

At the museum in Dallas, I did see information on Oswald's possible motives...his time in the USSR, ties to Fair Play for Cuba, etc. I have also been to the Oklahoma City National Memorial, but have not been inside the museum, due to lack of time. Maybe someone there can tell us how the museum mentions McVeigh and Nichols.

I also would add that the dialogue here so far has been reasonably civil. Let's keep it on track and avoid personal attacks. This is a subject where emotions could run high, but this is nothing to fight about. Thanks in advance.

"No one will come to this museum and leave with a feeling of heroism for the people who committed the crimes that we bear witness to today," Daniels told reporters.

Muslims will.

It will become a shrine for their martyrs. They might even want to use the sight to hold a memorial service for their heroes every 9-11.

Using his own words to justify his motives?
It has been a few years since I have been there, carpro, so I don't recall. I would have no objection to it however, if framed in the proper context. I do remember a letter Oswald wrote to Marina, his wife, being on display, but couldn't tell you everything I saw there. As mentioned, the sniper's perch is also recreated at the window where he fired the rifle from. Of course, if you are into conspiracy theories, the fatal bullets came from the grassy knoll or from a storm sewer drain. :tongue3:

Can we have that section set aside with the Phrase "Cowards" over their pictures...

I remember a lot of politicians calling them Cowards... Use some of those quotes.

Funny, the words I saw written in the dust all around the WTC site on Sept 14th and 15th were more along the lines of "Kill the ------!"

Well waddya know...I agree with you.

Adolph Hitler and his henchmen have their pictures & bios at several holocaust museum shrines. I see no problem with this.

Muslims will.
That's a bit of a generalization. In fact, my neighbors are Muslim. They're among the most patriotic Americans I know.

Of course it is. Does it make it any more palatable if we say "some muslims". How many does it take to make it a totally abhorrent act.

We have ample evidence that many muslims celebrate the lives and deaths of their successful terrorists.

Not enough time has gone by. The wounds are still too fresh for the relatives of the 3000 people murdered that day.

It's bad enough that many liberals in this country blame the whole thing on the United State. Certainly almost all of the muslim world believes it and many have said it. Why give the cretins that performed this heinous act a forum to air their grievances?

It's an insult to all Americans and most of all, the victims and their families.

It's a museum. There will be no "forum for cretins that performed this heinous act to air their grievances". That's pure fantasy.
