Obama Approval Rating

I think this is a result of his speech, which got standing ovations from both sides and then Bobby Jindol<sic> had a bad night.

I did not vote for McCain or Obama but Obama is winning me over.

I want him to succeed and pray for him when I can, I don't always remember to.
He has a monumental job ahead of him the 4th Qtr. was one of our nations worst but that is not his fault.

Blessings

Presidential approal ratings in today's divided world will be a roller coaster ride.

They don't mean much, regardless.

I agree...

Rev, not according to Gallup...

There has been a slight drop in his disapproval rating as well, from 25% to 21%.

Is that why you like him today?

What makes you think that I like him today?

I am sure that Obama's popularity is tied very closely to how much in handouts people receive or think that they will be receiving.

And you base this on what, your hatred for our president?

Is that the reason for all presidents to be popular, or just this one?

I think Obama is popular in part because he is new (still just six weeks into this), and people are willing to overlook his mistakes because of his newness, and in part because he is perceived to be taking bold steps to fix the economy (although the chances of these steps working are somewhere between zero and nothing).

This is the honeymoon period. Once people see the big deficits, the increase in taxes, the lack of improvement in the economy, the continued bumbling of even simple tasks, the increased partisanship in Congress, these approval ratings will likely decline.

Give him a break...

Everyone deserves a honeymoon period...

Then you wake up one morning, look at the one next to you.. and ...

"Ah, man what did I do?!!!"

I suspect that PL will be proven exactly right by summer.

Recently we had a thread pointing out how President Obama approval rating had fallen. It is now back up to 67% with the largest change being Republican's going from 27% to 42%.

This only shows the apparent ignorance of most americans. To base your "approval" on a speech is utter nonsense. These people should have their right to vote taken away until they learn what it actually means. This isn't American Idol...

Unfortunately I believe you are 100% right. It also hosws how finicky the American people are.

His entire presidency and political future hinges on the economy. If things stay bad he will drop below Bush but if things et better you can plan on having him another 4 years. I don't recall a president whose future was decided so early in his presidency. Bush had nearly a year before 9/11 which ultimately defined his future.

You think that short, summer? I was giving him until sometime next year when the 2010 campaigns get into swing. One thing for sure, if things don't improve by next year the Democrats are out.

I don't think our founding farthers could forsee into the future the ignorance and idiocracy of the american people, not to mention the media's influence. I think if they were privy to the information we have, the contitution would look MUCH different than it does today.

Wow! I love our constitution as it is - it is astounding.

It seems like a lot of people think the constitution is outdated and unworkable. I totally disagree.
